Completed... answer to my own question for others.

You must cross the log to get the final tear. Best way to get across is to both walk and crouch, making you go slowly; jump onto the log, save the game, then go forward and jump at the same time to get across the log. That was the easiest way I ...

With some things in this game I've found you just have to be in the right place at the right time -- literally. I have noticed that standing, sitting, sneaking, etc in the exactly correct posstion tends to activate the next move. Try re-reading your stuff. Maybe your supposed to ...

The countess in Chorral doesnt want anyone who isnt "famous" living in her town. So you have to have lots of fame. I, personally, still dont have enough, which stinks. :P

WOW I never would have figured that!!

I have spent like 2 hours looking through every box and everything. I went to the kitchen and grabbed everything on all the shelves. I never would have guess ed to activate the rug!! How in the world was I supposed to figure that one out!?

That did it!

Ok, there's a green bush (no flowers) right next to where they are standing, and on sneak, it shows they can see you entirely. My wife even walked up right next to them trying out locations (without being on sneak!) and that was the right spot, and they started talking.
