the charisma "discount" is based upon the person initiating the conversation with the shopkeeper.

for example, my party leader is a fighter with low chr. i do not initiate the conversation with him. i will select or highlite a party member with high chr. to talk with the shopkeeper.

i was able to find some mithral field plate off some foe in the severed hand, with the patched version.

same thing happened here. the demons move around so there is a good chance you missed him. i walked around the temple for hours looking for one little "critter." i finally found one of those blob like demons in a room i had already searched numerous times.

i finished the game last night so i decided to start a new group (this one will be evil). i upped the difficulty level to change things up a bit.

1. with a monk, do the dexerity and wisdom a.c. bonuses stack? (ie. is it more beneficial to have high scores in these areas or am i just wasting points?)

i believe you have missed some quests which need to be done prior to receiving those potions.

go back up a level in dragon's eye and talk with all the prisoners. one of them will have the information that you need.

believe it or not, i used a distintgration spell on him and took him down quite easily(had to cast it twice before he missed his save). if not for that it would have been a long battle.
