nope pickpocket doesn't work.....

u can allso just give him the real ore, thereby completing the quest and gaining max xp, and then summon a pit fiend to kill Scarles.... then loot the ore and go make the mace.....

If u just attack the beholder cult head on u will NOT get the key..... he doesn't drop it.... u have 2 choices.... restart the game..... or use a cheat to get the key... i would restart..... but.... the easy way is to enable cheat mode and use the command CLUAConsole:CreateItem("key01")
