Topic: Monk overpowered, or game too easy? (Spoilers)

It's like this: Once you get the improved knockdown feat, or the knockdown feat, the game becomes -ridiculously easy-.

Monks happen to be the cheesiest class around for a number of reasons:

1.) Bioware not only a.) stupidly included +5 to stat items, but b.) let them stack, something that 3rd ...

If I recall correctly, the pain gem is somewhere near the place where you kill the golem.

Played a druid through first, simply because I have always loved druids. He finished at 17.

I've played an orc barbarian, a gnomish sorceror, a human cleric, a dwarven fighter, a human ranger, a human paladin, all up to levels 12 or 13.

Currently I'm playing a Human sumo wrestler named Phrai Pork ...

I didn't make it through most of that (I have issues reading hunks of text with no carriage returns)...

But if you want to know what the tags are, go into the toolset and create a new NPC. In his properties, you can set body size, bicep size, etcetera etcetera, and there are the names for them ...

Okee, so maybe I referenced you innaccurately. Still was a good excuse to rant for 8000 words.

And, alas, I am one of those people who uses about 27 of the 36 hotkeys. =( As a gnomish sorceror with about 5 wands and a zillion spells, who could expect less!

Alas, don't have my player's handbook at work (somehow I think they'd object)...

The point I believe the manual is unclear on is whether the rapier IS a light weapon or is considered one. It is neither a light weapon nor considered one. It is a medium weapon that is affected by weapon finesse. It's ...

Nope.

Rapier is a medium-sized weapon in DnD. Fact. The Manual is incorrect on this matter, as it is in a number of things (Dual Wielding, 13 int req for Improved Knockdown, importing into saved single player games). Wielding 2 rapiers incurs a -4/-4 penalty. Wielding 2 short swords incurs a -2/-2 ...

Nygma: If people make comments that I disagree with, I will crank out rebuttals like nobody's business. However, I too felt that something was lacking, and, like the good engineer I am, felt the need to pinpoint and isolate the problem.

Skuld, pookie, don't get me wrong. I -love- NWN, consider it money very well spent, and play it with alarming frequency. I'd say most of us do. However, that doesn't stop us from commenting on what we don't like about the game and what could have been better.

That one rule threw monks way the @#$% out of balance. Ignore the fact that in PnP DnD I've never even SEEN something that raises dex or wisdom by 5, the fact that a high level monk can have many of them just makes them overpowered as @#$%.

Add that to the fact that Bioware made uber monk items ...

I figured so long as NWN people were breaking the fundamental DnD rules in regards to attribute enhancements stacking, they might as well stack everything else too...

Note to Rahvin: Morrowind is a GREAT game. For 2 days. However, it has zero replay value, is riddled with bugs, is imbalanced, and gets old horrifically fast.

Miraculously, fable, that has not yet been brought up.

I've sat here pondering for like 5 minutes now, and it's about bloody time I started typing, so here I go! Most of my ponderings have been about this: Is there any place in NWN where there was a bigger density of monsters than in a typical BG2 ...
