Well to diamond thats true with the polearms except when your facing 4 or 5 guys you have to remember you are surrounded seems to be a default in the game and if you are hit one time in mid-swing you usually end up losing the combination hits as well as extra damage from the extra hits

I've found shields to be rather useless in the game unless your facing archers or mages. Most of the NPC's surround you so effectively that your getting hit from behind more often than not and even armor is almost useless in those situations. A little more to it

there is a little bit more to it you can still identify items even with the red 0% showing they are usually items you would have a 100% chance of identifying anyway or items u pay no money to identify in a shop such as daggers. I noticed this a little while back.

Its not that they dont have good storylines (cultures and cultures 2 are good examples of this) they just tend to make things too complex to keep up with (refer to the same games )

if its the former it may be a graphics problem go to options and lower your graphics settings

if its the latter just wait a few seconds(sometimes up to a minute) and see if the game frees up again
