I'd say yes.

But I know one thing for sure: the graphic engine will be different.
It'll probably look nothing like Baldur's Gate II, and even less like the original.

That's what I'm betting.

If it is in development (assuming it will come out this year), then I bet it'll be released around October or November, if not later.

Have you tried reinstalling the game (however agonizing it is to do it)?

Are your using the same Mac as you did before?

Handle situations like you wanna handle them. Hack 'n' slash everyone, confuse them to death, stick arrows in their guts.

I was leaning towards ogre since you have to fight a few close to the end of the game.
