Solo wizard is a *horror* at start in BG1. Sure you can do it, but it involves loading games and lots of resting + pain. I was under the impression an elf fighter specialising in bows had an easy time though.

True, until I had invisibility it was pretty rough. I spent 20 minutes kiting a single ...

Honestly, I thought solo Wizard and solo Archer were easier than playing with a full party, especially if you start with BG1.

Are we talking about a solo or party run? They're both about the same level of difficulty in my opinion, but Thief HLAs put them over the top a bit if you're going all the way through ToB.

Level 5 now, I managed to get the Wand of Monster Summoning by drawing the Ghasts outside and webbing them in place. I also picked up the Necklace of Missiles and Wand of Frost, so I have a strong arsenal to work with. Now that I'm level 5 I can also cast Skull Trap so I finally have an AOE I can ...

Ok, after some thought and research my plan is now:

1) Get the Wand of Frost near Nashkel
2) Buy the Necklace of Missiles
3) Find a scroll of Invisibility somewhere
4) Get the Wand of Monster Summoning from the Valley of the Dead, assuming I can sneak in

From there I'll have a solid array of tools ...

Yep, found the ring. I'm thinking I'll head to Nashkel and try to do what I can and search for any wands. I recall a wand of frost somewhere out there.

I'm nearly level 4 after killing the spiders in Beregost (1 commoner got in the way of them though =/). Leveling isn't too bad, but I need to get some good level 2 scrolls to make it worthwhile. Seems like at level 4 Chromatic Orb might become worthwhile if I can get it off vs casters for the blind ...

I'm trying as a solo Mage at the moment and it's, well, slow. So far I've managed the FAI quests (hobgoblins, the two assassins, etc) and also moved to Beregost but the only way I kill anything even at level 3 is by kiting with a sling or hoping a sleep goes off. Any pointers? Admittedly, I haven't ...

Silver shard retroactive?

I recently snagged NWN2 and MotB and started up the OC and encountered the dialog bug after looting the silver shard. I found the hotfix and applied that, however I've been unable to find any reference to a console command or such to continue this save. Do I need to just start over again and go ...

Set up some basic AI scripts (Melee should use something like Spellcaster defend, etc) and be willing to micromanage. If you get slaughtered that often you're probably treating the game like Diablo or running into things much too high level. For starting out I'd recommend Nalia's keep, the Slavers ...

I assume you don't mean "Baldur's Gate 3", odds are it would want Disc 5 (ToB). Sounds like something that could be resolved by a full install though, even if you just copy the files over and edit the ini file.

Well in regards to the thief levels my primary goals were simply to be able to pickpocket and detect traps. The question is whether those two things make it a worthwhile goal, though with the xp cap removed I don't seem to really lose anything by dual classing at a very early level. Though poison ...

Solo: Thief/Mage vs Conjurer Specialist

I haven't played BG2 since its release, same with ToB, but lately I've felt like running through it again solo to see how all these fixes and tweaks go. To that end I'm debating one of two options with some reasoning for each and I'm hoping that people with more experience through SoA/ToB can chime ...
