Spell order is not always true, but if you plan as though it was, you'll do fine.

Someone commented on using triggers & contingencies from simulacra or Project Images - unfortunately, you can't.

Again, the potential of triggers and contingencies are almost infinite - both defensive ...

Well...

Bleh, weapons with vorpal/insta-death effects are ok, but -with the exception of the cheesy ranged Azuredge attach to gank liches - they never work on any bosses worth mentioning, and vaporizing rabble is hardly that impressive.
WARNING : the following is my idosyncratic opinion. You ...

[QUOTE=Nimiety]@Snoon - I actually have a problem with my katana choice. One character already has the Dakkon Zerth blade in the off, and celestial fury in the main. One of the mods brings out Kuroisan the acid kensai, who while being tough to beat, has a *very* good sword himself. Now, I'm stuck ...

Well, id depends, somewhat

Assuming we're restricting ourselves to offensive abilities, GWW is really great for archers and fighters using two handers, and is a rockin' good choice generally.

For dual wielders, who can get 8+ attacks a round with Improved Haste, Smite or Greater Deathblow may ...

Vampires, oh my!

The spell is dire charm. Vampires do that.

Special defensive spells you want are negative planes protection, so they can't level drain, and charm immunity. Both of these can also be obtained from items. Also Pro Undead scrolls will render them unable to see you ...

My 2 gold worth...

Fwiw, I believe Qwinn is correct, 2E base THAC0 (which is the basis, more or less for SoA) does not improve after level 20.

Good hunting!

My 2 gold worth

I think probably my multiclassed Fighter/Cleric was the most fun overall for me, but Kensai/thief (dual or multi - yes, I know multi is a cheat) is also mucho fun.

Sorcerors probably have the most cheese potential.

For a new character in group, it really doesn't matter - flavor ...

Well..

The problem with being a purist, is that no two purists can agree on what a true purist is. Fortunately for me, I'm not a purist at all.

My 2 gold worth...

MODs are good, replay with different parties is good, and there are other good games out there, some already mentioned, possibly Troika's Temple of Elemental Evil or Bioware's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

But, ultimately, do what you enjoy.

Good gaming!

Hmm...

Maybe you just can't steal from him?

Or the skill may wrap around above 255 - try him at, say skill 190 or so, and see if that works.

Well...if you're lazy like me, the Planetar would be the first choice, for the following reason.

Find an enemy
Memorize planetar (as many as you can), rest
Set up chain contingency with Project Image X 3 on character helpless
Cast project image
this will trigger chain contingency ...

Urrrrmmmm...

Well, this won't help much right now, but that's why you should keep multiple saves.

I got stuck at essentially the same point, and just reverted to an earlier saved game.

Anyone else know a better solution?

Maybe, for you, the game isn't worth playing. It certainly takes a modicum of patience, and would not suit most of the Diablo crowd, I'd think.

Umm..no.

[QUOTE=Jack Dell]I'm still not convinced. While I cannot question that you can beat the game with sniper shot and zaalbar's bowcaster, it doesn't mean its useful. It is more than sub-optimum. There are hardly enough situations in which the enemy is far enough to justify that range ...

[QUOTE=Jack Dell]actually, sniper shot is pretty much useless since there are very very few weapons that have a natural 17 threat range and they are rifles, which means you only get 1 attack per round with a potential of 11-20 to get double damage. Its a lot better to just increase dex ...

Hmm...

If ranged attacks are your bag, you could probably make some good use of sniper shot duels, too. I used that strategy a lot in solo mode for clearing rooms full of enemies (when possible) - it was often possible to zap some poor Sith with a load of my best available Sniper shots, and ...

The grouping

BG1 and old SoA had them in a line. ToB changes them into a cluster - the difference is, of course, purely cosmetic. Spell-50 makes for a real crowd, though

Well, it's this way

The following things have always struck me as problematic about cleric/thieves - the restricted weapons choices - really, clubs and staves are about it - and the relatively poor fit of spells.

It seems to me that cleric spells fit the Fighter/cleric (or ranger/cleric) so much ...

[QUOTE=stramoski]Themoot mentioned this problem, but not a solution: I tried creating a Cleric/Thief, and couldn't use my theiving abilities. How do you get aroung this?

I'll feel stupid if it's just one of the function keys, but I'd feel dumber if I never learn...
