Great Swords are the 'Best' Weapon Choice (and here's why)
There are a lot of posts on various forums asking about the 'best' weapon selection in IWD. Usually such a topic gets responses that refer to a specific weapon, say, the Singing Blade of Aihonen. This is not the right way of going about answering this question. In reality, it does not matter which ...

I resemble that old timer. :D I much prefer the 2nd edition myself. Although I guess I'm included in the "old farts" as well as I started playing back in the 80's too. In fact I started with the 1st edition.
But back to topic, if damage absorption is a prime goal, I would recommend a dwarf ...

While I've been convinced to give the Dwarf Berserker another try by your comments. It's really an incredible kit for a solo playthrough, with it's high number of attacks per round, immunities to practically all disabling spells, heavy damage output, great HP and great AC. While the barbarian may be ...

Thanks, now I'll know not to wear Roranach's horn when I next encounter her :) Not that I ever did, but I was always wondering about it. Still wondering about the dispel, guess I'll have to try out. Unfortunately that may take a while. On my current playthrough I just finished all of vanilla BG1 and ...

I also play PnP AD&D 2nd ed. and I agree that in PnP games dualclassing is supposed to be much harder than simply clicking a button.
That said, I have always found it a pity that characters cannot actually gain XP through studying at a university or training as a squire or working as a locksmith ...

Melissan Damage Type
It has been a long time since I last finished ToB and I forgot. What type of damage does Melissan deal? Is it blunt damage (since she uses some kind of staff) or piercing or slashing?
Also, if I remember correctly she dispels magic on virtually every hit, correct?
I'm talking about vanilla ...

You are right, berserker frenzy offers better immunities. I think every class/kit has its perks (well, except for Shapeshifters, maybe). And cleverly combining classes and kits always beats single classes. This guide was just a thought experiment for myself to see how close I could get with a single ...

Ultimate Barbarian Build (Single-Class Munchkin)
Many players think that ultimate munchkin power can only be achieved with a dualclassed human kensai/mage or [url='http://playithardcore.com/pihwiki/index.php?title=Baldur%27s_Gate ...

Removing 'Being Hit' and 'Target Immune' sounds
I have a question, something I've been trying to fix but so far been unable to.
I absolutely hate the sounds characters make when they are hit, especially in situations where they are hit all the time (ie: walking over lava). It just sounds silly.
I also hate the way they tell you a target is ...

I really can't see how it could work to be honest, the great thing about live AD&D is the buzz and interaction between the players, I don't see how that could be replicated.
Doing it in a chat room maybe, but even then I can't really see it working; so I guess you'll all have to move to Cornwall ...

I'm currently DMing two AD&D 2nd ed games! One for a group of people around a table and one solo game for my friend over Skype/Google+. Both are set in Greyhawk. It always strikes me when people think that just because it's an old edition it's no longer a viable game. AD&D all the way!
I'm happy ...

Hehe yes, checking for traps and secret doors is something we do constantly. I'm glad my DM doesn't automatically assume we do it, except when we state at the beginning of a hallway that we want to check for traps every few meters. But on doors and chests I think it's actually fun when a DM requires ...

1. Your experience with D&D
I've played in a regular weekly group for about 10 to maybe 20 sessions now. We play AD&D 2nd edition and I like it a lot. We play in a classic fantasy setting that was made by my DM. My DM does not allow any powergaming and requires us to roleplay encounters with NPCs ...

It is really fun. Still, I would also be interested in finding a good group that plays AD&D 2nd edition over email or forum. Once a week is not really enough for me. The problem is, I don't know where to start looking for people. I don't want to DM, don't want to play another edition, and don't want ...
