Your effective skill level should show on the Character page on the Tech Skills tabs.That will include your manuals.

Arronax is a free follower. He is pretty useless though.

You have to walk back through the forest, same as you came in.

Each manual would add your intellegence score to that skill's score, assuming you have that manual in your inventory. Yes they stack.

Yes. I have not noticed any game benefit from accepting sex, other than the entertainment value. There is actually a penalty, since you lose a bunch of Fatigue points.

The problem is that magic robes are not very effective without the magical bonus.
Actually, my last tech half-ogre wore magical leather armor until he could make the chainmail. It was worth a couple points more than non-magical leather.

Each magic item will show you its effectiveness percentage on each character. If your character is high-tech, it will likely be close to zero for your character. You apply that percentage to the item-stats that are in parenthesis...

Actually, each character point is +4 skill points. Therefore the +2 bonus is 1/2 a character point.

The only time I have seen only one bodyguard at the mine owners when when I forgot to ask the daughter who owned the mine. The owners do not show up at the address until after you ask her.

Hmm.... I dont think any of the backgrounds penalizes by more than 2-points. It only requires 18/20 to become a master.
I have used Debutante or Apprentice-to-Charlatine, which both penalize 2-points (1/2 character point), and still become a master in Melee and Dodge.

You should have picked some up in the Black Mountain mines. The one chest at the upper end of the big room in the bottom level always has a couple.
