I guess ultimately it's time to upgrade my PC, but I was hoping to get a little more life out of it.

Thanks a lot for the replies!

re: what OS

I am running Windows 98, but I do have DirectX 9b and all the current drivers for my video and sound cards.
I'm OK with having to turn down some details, but I'm just worried if the game will run so slow as to be unplayable.
I've run into several games over the years where the min ...

Requirements question

I am really looking forward to playing ToEE, but like I do with most games, I have waited until they got the game fairly well patched.
But here's my question...........my PC is a PIII 850 mhz, 256mb RAM, GeForce 2 64 mb video card, which technically meets the minimum specs for the game.

Does anyone ...

From what I read, it only works with a ranger or druid, but it didn't work with my ranger, so who knows.

I just didn't like the encounter because it didn't seem like there was any reason for my good party to slaughter these rangers and druids, and I would have liked a peaceful option for role ...

I've read elsewhere that you can pass Andora peacefully (which is what I wanted since my main character is a ranger) by having certain levels of charisma and/or diplomacy, but it didn't work for me with a 16 Ch and an 8 diplomacy, so I'm not sure what it takes.

Thanks for everyone's inputs.

I guess I will just try different combos and see how the to hit numbers change.
Despite what one person said, I'm hoping that a handaxe qualifies because that's what I want to use for my ranger.

Just one of the areas where I think they left out some information in the ...

Yeah, but the weapon descriptions just say whether it's one or two handed and how much it weighs. That doesn't tell you whether it qualifies as a "light weapon".

2 Weapon fighting question

In the table in the manual for two weapon fighting penalties, it mentions that the penalty for the 2nd weapon isn't as bad if the 2nd weapon is a "light weapon". My question is, how do you know which weapons qualify as light weapons for the purposes of this penalty? A dagger is obviously a light ...

Promising but.........

I think Lionheart looks very promising..........I love the SPECIAL system and the setting and story could be good.
Only thing that worries me is that it's made by the same people as Arcanum and I thought that game lacked a lot.
Hopefully they learned a lot from Arcanum and ...

I agree, but I have gotten so burnt out creating my own parties all the times I've replayed BG, BGII and IWD1, that I was entertaining actually using a premade party for once.

Premade parties........

I'm curious if anyone has played through the game using any of the premade parties that come with the game (Lady's Lament, Winter Rose, etc.).
If so, any recommendations as to which one might be the most fun to play with?

I believe the clerics in the tent in the main part of Targos sell cures like that.

Some questions/observations....

First, why can't I get my monk's stunning attack to ever work? I click on that ability everytime and then, even if he hits, I've yet to see any opponent ever get stunned.

Second, has anyone noticed how it's nearly impossible to keep enemy mages or shaman from casting spells by hitting them with ...

Awesome, thanks so much!!

Thanks a lot for the help!
Normally I'm very opposed to cheating, but I grew up playing AD&D where you can have magic armor and rings and I just wanted that one change to BG.

Thanks, but........

Thanks for the response.
The file you mention I was able to find in BG2 and it seems to work.
But, I couldn't find such a file for BG1 and I pretty much scoured every possible location.
Is this handled differently in BG1?

First let me say......

that I loved both games, but I have to admit that I liked BG1 a little bit more.
I liked the story better, the slow revelation of the mystery, as you mention.
For some reason I liked most of the NPCs in BG1 better despite the fact that you interacted with them more in BG2 ...

Ring of protection & armor.....

I know they made the design decision in BG & BG2 to not allow you to equip rings/amulets of protection and magic armor at the same time, even though it was allowed in AD&D.

Does anyone know of a way (cheat) to allow this in BG?

PS-T was incredible.....

I have loved all the BG and IWD games, but PS-T was just mesmorizing to me.
The story and the characters were the best I've ever seen in a CRPG and it has so many interesting ideas.

At first I wasn't even going to get it because it wasn't set in the more "classic" AD&D ...

Thanks, not sure why.......

our results are different.
