I don't think it will end the quest. But, if you have a ranger the woodland skill will tell you which way to go by telling you what way not to go. Or, there are other threads on this board with the answer.

Jungle of Chult SPolier

Hi , maybe a stupid question. How do you get into the rooms with teh little stones key combination in the underground temple in teh jungles of Chult. And Is the dragon ridiculously difficult to beat?
