I think one of the issues which surrounds the FFVII mythos is that was the first of the (at the time) next generation of graphics, that it is happens to have been the only Final Fantasy game which was advertised. It has just always bothered me that FFVII continues to garner such praise, and yet very few people can back that praise up. Meanwhile, I can systematically dismantle all its 'bonuses'. Frankly, the game was subpar, and was not even that impressive visually for its time.

I was actually pleased with the titles on this list (minus Oblivion). It was nice to see some love to the classic Square games, especially Chrono Trigger and FFVI. It also pleased me immensely to see that for once someone saw through the hype that was FFVII.

What my group usually does for critical misses is as follows:

roll a d10, on a roll of a 1, the weapon is dropped. On a 2, the player hits themself. On anything else, each number corresponds to a another player (not the targeted enemy), and they get hit. On any other number number, nothing happens.

It does not sound like the government raided them just because it is illegal, though. It sounds as though they targeted clinics which held the suspicion of selling it beyond the legal uses and channels. That does not sound like Tyranny at all.

keep in mind that con also affects your wound points. What this means is that one critical hit, and you only have 10 wounds points, which is not going to protect you for very long considering the inflated damage weapons deal. If you really want, look into the path which makes you a dex fighter ...

I never really liked the idea of premade worlds for games, especially when you have to basically do homework if you're the DM of a game. My favorite DND setting is one I create in my head every time I start a new game, no backstory or history already made, history just creates itself as I continue ...

My personal liking is towards Dragonlance. The whole concept of rar, but powerful, magic is attractive to me. It really makes those that pursue magice earn the power they eventually gain.

That, and it allows for a lot of Dragon combat and Aerial combat, when done right is a lot of fun.
