I'm currently DMing two AD&D 2nd ed games! One for a group of people around a table and one solo game for my friend over Skype/Google+. Both are set in Greyhawk. It always strikes me when people think that just because it's an old edition it's no longer a viable game. AD&D all the way!

I disagree with this quite a bit. These days JRPGs tend to be more complex and involved games than WRPGs are.

I disagree, that is I agree with Aeronth. If GB started covering JRPGs it could take up too much of the covering and I would probably stop reading GB. I don't think you want to lose your ...

Hitler, like Irenicus, would be more likely to help the god of murder than the you. The idea that anyone could control Irenicus is completely delusional IMHO, he'd turn on you the first chance he got. Your first fight with a powerful opponent would see Irenicus casting time stop and targeting you ...

The people I have trouble understanding are the ones who want to reincarnate Irenicus and have him join the party. I can't understand even an evil protagonist wanting to do that, well, apart from having the satisfaction of slowly killing him all over again.

What. Is it really that hard to ...

What do you mean bump [Imoen] off?

BioWare originally intended to have Imoen turn permanently into the Slayer, and ravaging Suldanessellar IIRC, essentially having her killed (by the hands of the PC). Can't find any info on this so I'm just quoting it from the top of my head.

Please someone ...

Just out of curiosity though, if only say 10 of those NPC's were elligible for BG2, which ones would you want it to be?

Apart from those who are already available? It's a bit of dilemma because there are quite a few NPCs whom you meet again in BG2 and bringing them with you from BG1 would ...

Which is how they handled it in BG Trilogy, which is why I prefer that over Tutu. Of course they were constrained by all the living dead in SoA, but at least if Jaheira and Minsc are killed in BG1 they don't miraculously come back from the dead.

Exactly. Which is also why I prefer BGT over Tutu ...

Now if they want to bridge the two games it will be important to be able to carry on with the same NPC's you had at the end of Baldur's gate 1 and these NPC's need to be more interesting and 3 dimensional than they were in BG1. For this to happen I think they would need to severely cut down on the ...

As nobody has mentioned this yet, have you patched your game? You can get the official patch from Icewind Dale II @ GameBanshee or Sorcerer's Place - Icewind Dale 2 Official Patches & Miscellanea for instance.

The Trial I think is the best demonstration of why NWN2 OC failed so bad. Because no matter the outcome of the trial you end up with the exact same result. So while in itself it was fun, at the end it was really meaningless.

The only slightly redeeming quality of NWN2 was Ammon Jerro. But then I'm ...

NWN2 OC - Just dreadful. Although I enjoyed the trial and killing that annoying stupid bitch Elanee. Bishop and Sand were the only characters I liked, Khelgar and Neeshka were OK. MotB is however the best RPG of the last 5 years or more, it was fantastic.

Oblivion was a fairly big disappointment ...

NWN2 MoTB and Deus Ex i'd rather never have played.

What makes you say that? I think MotB is the best thing Obsidian have ever put out, the story was compelling and reminded me somewhat of P:T and the NPCs were truly unique I felt. NWN2 was probably one of the biggest ...

A bit off topic, but I wouldn't use Blizzard as an example to go by. Their merger with Activision is leading them towards the same path. And they've had their share of controversies recently as well. From releasing Starcraft 2 campaigns in 3 different games (rather then 1 like that did with the ...

They are the devil indeed. I will be boycotting EA from now on.

First they bought Westwood Studios and screwed them over, canceling any customer support, dedicated servers etc. for Nox, a bloody brilliant game and shutting finally WS down. Then BioWare is next with the downgrading towards console ...
