If you are not a rogue, can you pick locks if you invest points in that skill like any other RPG game? Also, if you cannot pick the lock and you do...

Its weird that they wouldn't try to give Daveth some form of skill picking locks though, since he IS the first NPC rogue you encounter. You'd think...
