The athletic skill is important here but you can also use a crystal of time to slow down time and make the jump.

I had also version 1.3 and after i updated it to 1.4 my savegames had not been deleted but for safety try backuping your savegames.

In a very old thread it was mentioned that Strike only considers the last 2 digits. So someone with a Strike of 117 ends up with serious problems...
