Scoundrel/Guardian: When do I have enough Scoundrel?

Post by Klorox »

I'm very interested in the Defense Bonus Scoundrels get. That being said, their other abilities are pretty sweet too.

The earliest I will stop leveling up as a Scoundrel is level 6. I know level 5 is often recommended, and I'd get 1 more feat this way, but I really want the extra 2 defense points gained at level 6.

Level 7 grants me no saving throw difference, +1 BAB, and +1d6 Sneak Attack.

Level 8 grants me +1 REF save, +1 BAB, and another feat on Taris.

In the end, each choice will give me 10 feats of my own choosing (plus the bonus feats from being a Scoundrel/Guardian).

6/14 will give me more VP (more Guardian levels), more FP, and the best saving throws of the three groups (11/14/8). It must also be noted that this character will gain Force Powers faster than the others, because he will probably start his Jedi career at 3rd level.

8/12 will give me a more powerful character on Taris (although it can be argued that a level 4 or 5 character can complete this first planet easily enough). +1d6 Sneak Attack over 6/14 and many more skill points than any other option, with final saves of 10/14/8.

7/13 is somewhere in the middle. 1 BAB more than 6/14, 1 less than 8/12. More sneak attack than 6/14, same as 8/12. He finishes with the weakest final saving throws of 10/13/8.

I'm starting to think level 6 is where I should stop, but I'd like to hear the opinion of y'all out there.

6/14 gets one more fortitude, which is negligible. Your saving throws are already going to be boosted by your stat modifiers, equipment, or force powers (force immunity or force armor). It does get 1 more force power than 7/13 if that is something you really want.

7/13 is the build I play. You get the second level of scoundrel's luck and you get the 4th level of sneak attack. The Consular gets 2 force powers at level 13, if you choose to play that jedi.

8/12 doesn't sound very good. Sure you get 1 more feat while on taris, but you don't need it and you still end up with the same number of feats as the other builds, come endgame. The other builds get more force powers. 1 BAB is not really worth a force power.
Always remember you're unique ... just like everyone else.

I've decided to go with level 7.

The skillpoints played into my decision as well.

What are the bonus feats from being a Scoundrel/Guardian? I assume just sneak attack and luck and Jump but if there are any others I would really like to know?

Also how many skill points does a Scoundrel get per lvl and a Guardian get per lvl? (I'm thinking of making a being a Scoundrel/Guardian).
