I'm running BG2:SoA on my Intel MacBook and through Irenicus' dungeon it worked fine. Then, just before I got out, everyone in the party started to have pathfinding issues.
I can't move them all at once; to get anywhere I have to give individuals walking orders of 2 or 3 meters max. They don't stutter or move slowly - they refuse to move at all until I give them a short enough objective to reach.
This is getting really tedious and I have no idea why it's happening.
If I quit BG2 and restart, everything is fine for a few minutes, then they all get stupid again. I've upped pathfinding nodes from 32k to 52k but that doesn't change anything.
I don't have ToB, just SoA version 1.1.2. (I can't find the latest patch now that MacPlay's site is useless, does anyone know where to get it? Or is 1.1.2 the newest non-ToB OS X version of SoA?) I'm not using any mods, just a full install of vanilla SoA. OS version is 10.5.2 and processor is 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, if that matters.
Searching shows a few other Mac users having this problem, but the suggestions all seem to be related to mods (which I'm not using) or romances (which haven't started yet, AFAIK). The pathing issue happens in the last passages of Irenicus' dungeon, outdoors in Waukeen's Promenade, and inside stores, so I don't think it's specific to any area.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had issues on a mac recently. Not identical, but similar. Have you tried the pocketplane group? They were a lot of help to me. I suggest posting over there.
FYI- I experience hte same pathfinding issues you're talking about- my guys just suddenly stop moving. I save and restart and everything is copacetic.
Edit: Okay! I see your post over at the pocket plane group, so I assume you've been there. I can't help any more than I have. Consider starting a new thread over there as well.

Yeah, I've looked all over and lots of people mention this, but no one has a fix. One place (I can't remember where) they said it's been happening since OS X 10.4 came out, so some compatibility issue probably arose with the executable itself.
I doubt MacPlay even has staff that know this game anymore, much less that they would put time into fixing it.

I also observed this problem when I played BG2:SoA on my PowerBook G4.
As a die-hard "Mac guy" I hate to say it, but if you've got an Intel Mac there's really no reason not to play BG in Windows. Get yourself a copy (I don't want to know) and go to town in Boot Camp or some virtualization software.
Now that I've got a MBP, I usually boot into XP to play BG, but sometimes I do play in VMWare. As you might expect, since BG is such an old game the performance is flawless even in VMWare.
Basically, I highly recommend that instead of struggling with BG in OSX you lay down for Windows and its version of Baldur's Gate. You'll get better performance and way, way better mod compatibility.
How are you even getting BG:SoA to run in OS X? It's PPC and you have an Intel Mac - I guess it could be using Rosetta, but I remember trying to play the OS X version of SoA on my new MBP and I got nothing.
Verdict: play in Windows!

Well, I haven't messed around with Windows on my Mac yet, and given that my hard drive is making unhealthy noises and I won't be able to fix it until I get back to the US in a bit, I'm not going to start.
But, for the record, aside from the pathing issue BG2:SoA runs absolutely flawlessly on my Intel Macbook (non-Pro hardware and without ToB installed either). There are some precautions to take with the initial setup, as have been detailed in many places, but as long as you can follow directions you'll be fine.
