familiars in 4th deition

familiars in 4th deition

i have been looking though the players guide and masters guide and even the monster mannual but i cannot find anything about animal familiars, for wizards or for rangers. so whats the deal have they kill all use of them or what?

Yeah, they got rid of them. They got rid of Familiars, animal companions, cohorts, summon monsters, summon natures ally, planar binding and planar allies.

now why the hell would they go and get rid of anything that we loved! they builded up all are hopes around 4th edition then dashed them! i think i want to go back to second or third edition. the have taken all that was D&D out of D&D. and sorcs... sorcs...

My thoughts on the edition exactly. They believe the only things that make a good RPG are necessary things. Since wizards were their, sorcerers were unnecessary, but that doesn't make excluding them a good thing. At all.

But now combat is so simple! Isn't 4E great? :rolleyes: I believe there's still a ritual that let's you summon something, if it's a consolation.

Summoning

Yeah... I was bummed about the lack of summoning. So was my friend. TO an extent that after 3 2-hour sessions, I'm making a summoner class :D It's harder than I thought it would be, in context, having to pore through the MM and finding appropriate creatures... then lining that up with daily/encounter/ at will powers... It makes my head hurt :laugh:
Anyways, I can post it in this thread when I'm done if you like. It will still probably still need playtest/revision...
