Tribunal install problem

Post by Valonia »

I inadvertently did some Bloodmoon side quests before realizing that this was also the land for the main quest of BM. So I installed and completed Bloodmoon, installed Tribunal, and then installed Bloodmoon again as the book included with my version (which included the 2 expansions) said to do. The game loads, I rest but Tribunal never begins. I've read the threads regarding installation and rested 20 times just to be sure I had a problem. Does anyone know how I can correct this? Thank you!

There's a random chance that an assassin will attack you, and you likely just haven't hit that random chance. Recommended or not, installing bloodmoon first has absolutely no effect on Tribunal, and if you tried to patch bloodmoon without Tribunal, it would have stopped you so there's no chance of a glitch there.

Are you sure you're not just waiting? As there is a difference.

Glitch? No dart to start the game :(

I am at my manor so am definately resting. After reading your post, I tried resting about 2 doz. times and WAS attacked by assassins but after I killed them, there was no dart on their person and no journal update. How do I know if Tribunal has properly installed or "jumpstart" its start?

Thank you for your reply and attempt to help me!

The assassins only carry 1 dart, so if they have a chance to throw it at you you won't find one on their body afterwards. The darts not important anyway.

You should have an entry in your journal, and it should show up as 'Dark Brotherhood Attacks' under current quests, and there should be an entry telling you to talk to a guard (any guard will do).

If for some reason that entry hasn't appeared then (if your on a PC) try typing
Journal TR_DBAttack 10
into the console.

Obviously make a back-up save before doing this just in case.

No go

Sorry - for the delay - watching the Olympics last night :) I am on a PC, tried the code and got the "Journal updated" message but when I actually look at the journal, the onlky DB reference is some comment about them being "bad guys that I should stay away from". Please, any other suggestions? Thanks!

The entry in your journal should read
An attempt was made on my life as I tried to rest. I do not know who wishes me dead, but the attack should probably be reported to a guard.
If you've entered what I suggested in my earlier post and the above isn't appearing in your journal then I don't know what's wrong.

What mods do you hve running, if any? Sometimes they can cause problems.

Still in a bind

I do not have any modules running so that is not the problem. Should I try installing BM and Tribunal again?

Thank you for trying to help me (again). It would stink to have gotten so far in the game and not be able to play Tribunal.

Still stuck

Tried reinstalling Tribunal then BM with doing a Restart between each and before putting the Morrowind disc back in. Then tried the code, rested and again got a "your journal has been updated" message with the journal not containing the beginning Tribunal message re the assassins. Does anyone have any ideas? Spent the entire day yesterday doing nothing due to Tropical Storm Fay when I could have been playing Tribunal!
Frustrated in Florida!

Well the only thin I can suggest is going to Mournhold by using the console, this command
Coc "mournhold, craftsmen's hall"
will get you there. Exiting from there (place a 'mark', in front of the weapon seller is a good place) then explore. Exiting the hall will take you into Godsreach, where there's a trapdoor that will take you to the sewer, try following the walkthrough from that point.

Okay, now this is strange!

Galraen, I typed in the new command and it took me to a room with a door but when I open the door, everything is black. I can walk out the door and am surrounded by black and can look back and see the room that I started from and can walk back to it! The close up map says that I am in Mournhold but the world map shows me as being in my Morrowind manor. I was excited thinking your latest suggestion had worked only to be sunk into despair again. Okay, maybe that's a bit too dramatic but I don't have a life :) Are you out of ideas? :(
