Spirit Animals

Post by Genesis »

In an effort to wake everyone up...I was experimenting with the druid classes last night and I tried the Totemic druid. Thats the one that summons a special spirit animal to fight for them. I got a cool looking spirit bear. I didn't really think it was that impressive untill I set it about killing some baddies and man...he was kicking as left and right. basically immune to everything thrown at him...only downside was that he although he lasts a very long time he eventually gets unsummoned...if not for that I bet you could solo this particular druid...What do you guys think of soloing druids...and please no druid bashing just honest opinions

There is no specific description on the spirit animal stats but I can tell you that the spirit lion and spirit bear do massive damage and seem immune to normal weapons and magic. The spirit snake inflicts poison damage on each hit and the spirit wolf is extremly fast prop affected by haste but not as strong as the lion or bear. You can summon 3 at the start i believe and this goes up as you level. I'm fairly confident even though I have tried that you could easily use them as tanks for a solo game and use your druid spells to back them up.

Any ideas?

Do you lose Con if they die? For some reason I thought they acted like the beastmaster and mages familiars...if not, it sounds like they could be very good. In another thread I saw someone say something like, "the spirit snake got charmed and wiped out my whole party." That got me thinking that they might be powerful enough to look into.

Spirit animals are really great!!! Once i summoned a spirit snake....he's difficult to hit, and poison the enemy with every hit.....not too bad vs mages.

I've been playing some more with the spirit animals. They are very tough and you do not lose anything when they die...The spirit lion, bear and snake are extremly powerful in the order i listed. The spirit wolf is not as powerful but twice as fast. They are definately good for the solo Totemic druid. However they only stick around for a while so you'd end up sleeping a lot. On the good side you can summon only one at a time to wipe out a good many foes. The number you can summon goes up as you level
