I think the Darksword is better too, because it does comparable damage, plus it has lower strength and light weapons skill requirements. I don't know which *very* high level creatures it is not as effective with...but it works nicely on Moonbeasts and Firedrakes. But hard to say, because the only way I have gotten it is by editing it in and I tend to feel guilty about that, so don't go very far with those characters. :o
Ola Kathy! :)

When I say "not as effective" - I'm referring to the weapon's special ability (not damage). And by difficult opponents I'm referring to "boss" like opponents: Medussa, Khad, certain Demons, etc.. ;)

Note that Firedrakes actually seem to be MORE prone to a special ability or spell than the Moonbeasts. It could simply be a matter of linear progression in the game - i.e. you "find" Firedrakes sooner than Moonbeasts.. as such they are "easier" to kill (magically speaking and without regard to hit points).

(I should also mention that I play the game on the most difficult setting - and that could very well make a significant difference.)

The odd thing about the Darksword is that IF you get it and WHEN its possible to get it - a lower strength and low skill requirement is moot. By then even near pure mages will likely have MUCH better attributes and skills.

greatsword

guess i should read more before i throw stuff in my own thread but i did figure out a few more things today.

greatswords as u know all drop in druid temple, but there are actually 6 chest that can drop them.

all 4 chest that drop demon stones in khads domain can also drop them plus a wide assortment of items, those 4 chest seem to drop just about everything u can get from the dungeon if u have pacience with them(ie save and reload a lot),plus the 1 chest in the front area of khads domain that doesnt drop a demon stone drops them frequently.

the 6th chest which is the first 1 u come across is the 1 behind the secret wall in the upstairs area where u get gold key.

so getting your choice of greatswords isnt hard. easist 2 to get them from is the 1 upstairs and the 1 in khads domain that doesnt have a demon stone. thos 2 are weapon only chest.

btw very nice list scott

have fun

I found the Winter Shuriken in the Shadow Ruins. I'm not sure exactly where, but I believe it was in the shadow altars room, marked with numbers 6 and 7 here:
Dungeon Lords @ GameBanshee

It was definitely in that final area, anyway.
