Classes?
Classes?
Do you think that Fable 2 should have premade classes for you to select, (Battlemage, thief, paladin and so on), and get bonuses in that area? Or do you think that you should mould your own class like you did in Fable 1? Personally I would prefer to mould your own class, as it would be much more realistic.

Personally I would prefer that they let you mould your hero to be how you want him/her to be, with as much customisation as they can implement, rather than have premade classes .. but thats just my opinion.
On a side note, I'll keep this thread open provided that it is used to discuss the classes people would like to see, or not to see if that is the case, rather than just a simple yes/no thread with a poll. So please can people use this thread to discuss the classes they would like and why

*Coughs* I clicked on the wrong option and voted for pre-made classes. Can someone change it?
Personally, I'd prefer the class system used in Oblivion where you can customise your own character or choose a pre-made one if you wish. Plus, despite of the various classes, they should still allow your character to become a jack-of-all-trades.

I'd probably prefer if the current Fable system be maintained, albeit with some restrictions (level cap, etc.) to provide more of a challenge should you focus on a particular method of attack.

I totally agree because fable 2 will be in the future they should at least try to keep the same gameplay.

oblivion charecter creation is simialer to morrowindmr_sir wrote:@ Loki, I've changed your vote
I've never actually played Oblivion - is the character creation similar to Morrowind? If so then I agree with you that having a system similar to that, where you can either customise or choose a pre-made would be good.
be warned...the shadows will pull you into the darkness.
Premade classes. The bad part about games like Morrowind and Fable is that mages can be equally skilled in melee combat and able to take just as many hits as people who build pure warriors. It shouldn't work that way. People who build pure warriors should be able to deal the most damage with melee weapons and should have more endurance and hp. Games like Morrowind and Fable take away any kind of strategy you could make in character customization.

Just because I don't like an aspect of a game doesn't mean that I can't enjoy other aspects about it. Also, I don't think you should tell people whether they should or shouldn't buy something, unless they ask you. Furthermore, I'm not complaining but expressing my preference when it comes to character creation. Rpgs are known for customization. Rpgers love to fiddle around with different stats, weapons, and spells to create a character that caters to thier own liking. However, what customization is there in a game when the hero can learn every spell simultaneous, max every stat simulataneously, and equip every item in the game? Indeed, there is no real customization in Fable. All the people who play Fable will have identical characters come end game. If Fable could implement a type of system that has a set number of stat points that you can distribute between different stats on your character, then the customization in the game would be far more interesting, imo.Wakatishy wrote:I like it exactly the way it was in fable 1 where you mold your character and like some people complain that a pure warrior should be the best with melee and not some mage. Well if you don't like it that way then don't buy the game is what I say.

I think Caden has a valid point however I don't think there should be premade classes. I think this is where they need to get creative and set a new standard. I just know that a straight up warrior probably shouldn't be able to one shot end game enemies with lightning and have just as much mana as health. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. It would also add replay value to the game. I could beat the game as one type of character then replay as a different.

the whole point of Fable is that you are free to take the path you wish, and stray from the path at any point.
pre-made classes would mean that you have to play the rest of the game a certain way. EG a warrior class wouldnt be able to be any good at magic, just as a mage class wouldnt be able to cut off heads with a sword or an axe.
pre-made classes, or pre-made anything for that matter, are restricting. in fable you are given a (nearly) blank canvas and your actions paint your masterpeice.

While I do agree to a certain extend, the problem with Fable is that it gives way too much freedom where you can learn pretty much everything from magic, ranged and melee until you can max out in all three of them.DWEEB_33 wrote:the whole point of Fable is that you are free to take the path you wish, and stray from the path at any point.
And this is where I agree with Caden. What is the point of customisation when you can max out every category? I don't mind diversity, but I wouldn't expect a melee-based character to have strong ranged or magic combat and the same goes for the other categories as well.
Perhaps putting in a level cap might help to make players start to focus on one area?

in Fable II Peter Molyneux has said it will be MUCH more difficult to max out any skill due to the new experience system.
regardless, im sure people will do it eventually, (i know i will) its just a case of actually putting in the work to become that powerful.
also, if you're meant to be the strongest hero, then it would kinda suck to have people that can cast better spells, or do better sword combos and whatnot.
