Duchal Palace bug? (possible spoilers)

Post by Kryrl »

I've been through the game many times, but this is the first time ever, I've encountered a bug of this nature.
Upon entering the Duchal Palace (being quite close to completing the game), the cinematic starts as normal, however about 3-4 seconds after the film is done, and I continue the game, the film starts over...this kept happening for as long as I stayed on that floor of the palace. Furthermore, none of the npcs for the event are present...there are only guards and the odd commoner walking around.
I've tried re-entering the palace, going to the second floor and back, I've tried leaving that part of the city and go to the Splurging Sturgeon, where I encountered another strange bug. The midget-guy approaching you when you enter the tavern to go to the undercellars, after returning from candlekeep, approached me...twice...I had already done the undercellar part, so that npc should've played his role by now, but he approached me again...but there were 2 of him.

I've even tried loading an ensurance game from candlekeep, and playing that part over, but the exact same thing happened when I got to the Duchal Palace.

Anyone who's experienced something similiar and/or have suggestions?

Do you have any mods installed? Also is the game fully patched? The only thing I could suggest is copying your save game to another place on your PC (so you don't risk losing them) and then reinstalling the game as it could be an error with the installation.

Are you playing regular or Tutu? If the problem persists you could switch one for the other. I'm not sure if you can open Tutu savegames in BG or the other way around. Shadowkeeper doesn't really mind where they come from though.

I have shadowkeeper, but as far as I can tell, that's only for BG2...other than that, the game is pure...I am really not interested in trying tutu whatever it is :P , but I reckon I'll try and reinstall then...just find it strange since I've been through it several times on this install

re-installing didn't work...so I decided to just export the char and start on BG2 anyway...

I think that you will find that shadowkeeper can also be used for Tutu games as well as BG2 and that Gatekeeper is for the vanilla game.

Sword Coast Keeper is the latest editor for BG1. It and other useful utilities and mods can be found here
