If I never get the stupid Nether Scroll, will anything bad happen - like Edwin leaving? It is definitely worth missing a bit of exp and the subplot to not have to deal with the movement issues later, but not if that means no Edwin (or Edwin complaining incessantly about not getting his stupid scroll).
Thanks.
Edwin question *minor spoiler*
He'll leave eventually if you don't get it. Not sure what you mean by movement issues though.

That's what I was afraid of.
After Edwin changes to Edwina there is a bug that causes him/her to "float." This isn't much of an issue at normal speed, but the boots of speed and potions of speed won't work, he/she still goes at the regular speed. It's really annoying when you only have two or three characters and want them to wear the boots or use potions. There may be a shadowkeeper fix, but I haven't heard of anything.

I've only played one game with Edwin in it, I can't stand the guy, and I never noticed that bug. Mind you a mage is the last person I'd give boots of speed or a potion, no way I want them arriving on the scene of combat first.

SPOILER:
When Edwin finds a scroll, just use the dialogue option that "He should use the scroll for a purpose of the group" or sth. similar and he never changes to Edwina.
I also think that this decision affects his relationship with Minsc because I had both of them until the end of ToB and they stopped insulting after some time and never had a fight.
