life-stealer spoiler

Post by Dradeel »

There's a dagger called Dagger +4,Life-stealer. It's obtainable in the graveyard tombes after you permanently kill Bodhi (only if you have item upgrade mod).
It resembles the soultaker from BG1 ToSc. I want to know if it can be used for any quest or upgrade by caspy or cromy? I don't want to miss anything.
The dagger I'm talking about is very suspicious to anybody who ever killed Aec in ToSc.

That dagger is a stock item, not one added by Item upgrade, not sure if it came with the vanilla game, or the collectors edition.

As far as Cespenar upgrading it, I don't believe he does. I had a look around some walkthrough's, most of them (including the one on this site) don't even mention it for some reason. The one item listing I did find it on didn't mention how it is acquired (it did for darn near everything else), I suspect the PC has to meet some pretty tight specifications to get it, one of them probably being the pC has to be evil, but that's a guess. Certainly I've never found any reference to Cespenar (or any other smith) using it in a recipe.

I'm a lawful good kensai. The only bad thing I ever did was killing adalon. I hope the Ufinished buisness mod has nothing to do with this, becouse I have it too. The only thing I did differently when killing bodhi is, that I only had one elven water (spend two on upgrades), hence purged only one pool of blood.

One more thing. Even tough I was romancing Jaheira, Bodhi did not take her. mybe I'm not far enough in the romance.

I can't actually remember the item spawning personally, it struck me that it could be triggered according to whether you've sided with Bohdi or Linval. I've only gone the Bohdi rout once, and that was many years ago, so it may have spawned then and I simply forgot about it.

It exists in the Items.Bif in the Chitin key, so it is a Shadows of Amn item, not a Throne of Bhaal item (they are in 25items.bif I believe). I think it very unlikely that unfinished business would remove the dagger, in fact I would expect the reverse if anything.

Hopefully someone like VonDondu who is more expert on the game than me will come along and clear things up.

As far as I know, the dagger is one of the three weapons that are within the game but are never used. It was supposed to be carried by Artemis Entreri, which the Unfinished Business mod restores.

Without having to rely on mods, the only way to get it would be to cheat it in. The code for it is DAGG20.

I seemed to have forgotten one. My bad.

Scimitar +1, Shazzellim (SW1H50)

This scimitar is of rather poor quality but beneath its surface lies great power and evil. Created for the sole purpose of slaying Harpers, Shazzellim is more than capable of that task. With one strike of the blade a bard must make a saving throw vs. spells or die. Crafted by a Red Wizard of Thay, the sword also has the ability to vocalize, which is why it was often given to fighter-mages in the service of the Wizards. Needless to say, possession of this sword would not be looked upon very highly by Harpers.

Bastard Sword +1: Albruin (SW1H34)

Basalin was a large man, rumored, far from his hearing, to be a were-bear. He long wielded the sword Albruin in the protection of his village, slaying giant spiders that plagued the area. The sword protected him from their poison and also allowed him to see invisible Red Wizards who controlled some of the more fantastic variants. The reason for their enmity is unknown.

Special Abilities:
Detect Invisibility once per day
Protection from poison while wielded
THACO: +1 bonus

Taragarth the Bloodbrand, Bastard Sword +1 (SW1H37)

Dungeon-delving Lehorgan was lucky indeed to discover this Halruaan blade in the ruins of the ancient sorcerer Kullon's haunt, for it would save his life that very day. The ghost of Kullon himself attacked the intruder, but the flames that followed only singed, absorbed into the glowing Bloodbrand. Concealing himself, Lehorgan watched in amazement as the ancient sorcerer tried to divine his location and again the sword protected him. Surviving this brush with death, the young man used this second chance and the gold from selling the blade to, as he put it, "get the hell out of adventuring."

Interesting.
So there is no real use for these items? I mean that they can't be upgraded?

These items are from the original game, and there was n way to get them unless you used the console. I do not know whether or not any of your mods tamper with them.

I'm sure I've come across Shazzellim and Albruin in my travels, darned if I can remember which mods put them into the game though.

I believe it's Unfinished Business.

Though in the original game, if you Ctrl + Q Elhan, you'll see that he is dual wielding two Shazzelim blades.

Haven't played UB, but the Ctrl+Q on Elhan I've definitely done at least once.

The bastard sword, Albruin, can be obtained in the original game. It's in the 5 chapter, Victims of Imprisonment: An imprisoned mage named Raevlin Strathi has spent so many time being Imprisoned, that he's actually insane and attacks you at sight(and uses Imprisonment as well). If the mage is Healed(and I mean Heal spell and nothing else), his mind is restored, and he fights no more, but rather departs and rewards you with the Albruin sword.

The sword is useful, since it's one of five items throughout the SoA+ToB saga that actually offers permanent protection from poison.

I think I have proof that it's the Unfinished buisness mod. Suna Semi gave me Targarath after I emerged from the labyrint beneth the Asylum. By doing that she broke her geas and died. I had Valygar in the party so I don't know if you get the sword otherwise. She actually mentioned the sword as her most prized possesion. I found the scimitar in prebek's house in the Docks and the dagger in bodhi's sarcophagus. I am certain that Suna Semi is from Unfinished buisness. That is my proof. The only other mod I have installed is Item upgrade.
