Problems with Nauselom

Post by ve6tp »

Hi:

I have killed Nauselom 5 times and I have the Rod Of Divinity and I have used it on him.

I have tried to keep battling him by using the Rod, but that has little effect. So then switched to my powerful sword, which shows some damage.

My problem is that when I have hit him and caused damage, he disappears and reappears which is not a problem, but what is a problem is that when he reappears he is healthy again.

What's the point of battling him if all he has to do is disappear and reappear healthy again?

Have you looked at our walkthrough for the battle? From what I've seen, you have to hit Nauselom once with the rod to prevent him from regenerating, but then you can use anything you want to kill him.

In the CE, that won't work. You can only attack him with the Rod of Divinity. It requires that you have light pole weapons trained to 6 to use it without penalty. Yeah, it sucks, and it takes time, but it's the only way to kill him.

Hey Cionaoith:

Can't tell you how much I appreciated your reply and help. No way I could have finished that battle without your knowledge and advice.

Got my Light Pole to Level 8 and just to be sure, I also got my Magic Weaponry up to 8. I was able to defeat him on the second try. I also had a few rounds of "Sanctuary" and that helps a lot.

Before your reply, I was so frustrated with this, I almost said to heck with it. What a loss that would have been. A lot of "work" with no ending to the game.

So again, thank you very much.

Best regards,
Tru

Thanks for your reply, but if you read the very first line of my inquiry, you would have seen I had told you I had already done what you suggested. Thanks anyway.

My experience with Nauselom matches the walk through and swcarter's response. Once hit with the rod he will not regenerate, both in CE and earlier versions. I hit him with the rod and then switch to a better (for my character) weapon.

I have even beaten Nauselom with a pure fighter. No magic and no magic weapon skill.

To me pole arms are slow. I rarely use them. If you want to use the rod only, it will require patience, healing, and a lot of running around dodging magic. And yes it will work better with higher Light Pole and Magic Weapons.

Hello Nebari:

Thanks for your reply but as I said to swcarter, if you read the very first line of my inquiry, you would have seen I had told you I had already done what you suggested. And again I will repeat the results .... IT DID NOT WORK. I can't make it any plainer than that.

It was Cionaoith who gave me the information I needed to accomplish this. As soon as I got my Light Pole to Level 8, I was able to defeat him on the second try.

I'll say it again. Getting my Light Pole to at least Level 8, solved the problem, and Nauselom was then a "Walk In The Park".

Regards,
Tru

It is odd that the same version of the game (CE) would work differently for Nebari than for Ve6tp and I. I'm not saying that I doubt Nebari's word, only that it is odd.

wierd

that wierd i have hit him once with my rod and that stopped him from regenerating on my game too (1.5ce). and i have never tried to melee him to death i just hit 'em once with the rod then 1 cataclysm and i was done. another time i used fire burst to kill him , god i love the knock back, a little slower than cataclysm but it got the job done. i am going to try and kill him with melee this time around though.

I'll give it another shot (I always do). Every time so far, though, attacking him with anything else causes him to start regenerating again.

I should probably add that I always try to have the pole arm skill high enough to use it without penalty. That may be a requirement to disable his regeneration. That said, I have never used the rod to kill him.

Hey all,
I just thought I'd intergect here lol. This answers no questions I suppose, but I also have no pole or magic weapon skills whatsoever, and all I have to do is hit Nauselom with the pole despite my penalties and he never regenerates. I kill him with melee of whatever weapon I choose. I have the CE editioin, btw. So, I just thought I'd mention that he wasn't the only one who could have no pole or magic weapon skills and hit Nauselom once and kill him with any other weapon of choice. That is wierd how it wouldn't work for some tho! N e way, just thought I'd tell!
