Speed run

Post by Smilge »

I just completed a speed run and I thought I'd share it with some of you guys. I play a Mage/Thief. It was done in 17 segments. Let me know what you think.

Please post any questions about the run and I'd be happy to answer them.

No offense, but who cares? Yeah, sure you can finish the game in 6 different parts on Youtube, it's nice you can do that, but really, that's not what the game is about. It's as pointless as people who can finish Morrowind in less than a half-hour.

Morrowind is a pretty short game if you only follow the main story, but a half-hour? Damn.

Anyways, I think that a speed run would be fast and easy in BG2, but you'd miss out on tons of items and rewards.

Still, good videos. I just can't see myself doing that, I enjoy the RPG aspect of gameplay too much.

First of all, we're getting off topic.

Second of all, there's a speed-run that finishes Morrowind in seven and a half minutes.

Holy ****, it's Baldur's Gate, on crack!

I'm inclined to agree, though, that's not what the game's for, and that's certainly not how I play it. Still, to each their own, and it is fairly entertaining, so go you! :D Gotta love Hide in Shadows.

Also, Morrowind in under eight minutes?! I've played some Morrowind in the past, but never finished it, so I don't know how the story goes, but, still, that's insane. ^_^

EDIT: Also, totally off topic, sorry, but I just noticed I'd been censored, which is weird. I thought I'd said that word on here before without hitting the censors. I knew some words were censored, but I'd never come across it. Either I'm mistaken about having said 'that word' before, or the censors have been changed and tightened. Anyone know?

I'm pretty sure that word has been censored since the establishment of this forum.

Maybe you spelled it incorrectly and thought you had seen it bypass the censor?

Anyways, rushing through stuff seems easy enough, though this way you'd probably hit Irenicus in chapter 4 at an extremely low level with mediocre gear.

Well technically, you can hit the end of ToB with hardly any gear and still have a breeze.

This is the home for all speed runs on the web:
Speed Demos Archive

There's also the Morrowind run in 7:30 (the same person even did a run in 6 minutes but unfortunately never submitted it officially).
We also have runs of Kotor, BG1, ToB, IWD, Fallout and lot's of other (non-rgp) games there.

The only game I've really done anything close to a 'speed run' in was Fable. 4 hours, maybe.

Boy, did I miss a LOT of gameplay.
