Warning, there are/might be, spoilers in this thread
Greetings!
Yes once more I have returned to the forums with a question, actually multiple. For the past four years I haven't gotten a single new component for my computer. Lately I cannot play the newer games and those I can play dull quickly. My love for Baldur's Gate has never ended and as such I decided to buy it again. I still have BDG2 and TOB but BDG1 has been wrecked by the sands of time.
I got myself the following compilation:
bol.com | Baldur's Gate - Compilatie, Atari | Games
Sorry it's in Dutch, hopefully English people recognise the box and know what version it is.
This is where my first question kicks in:
I've read the stickies but the last time I tried to mod my BDG1 it failed utterly and I do not know why.
Can someone tell me what version I will be getting and what kind of modmethod I need to use in order to use tutu, the fixpack and I think unfinished business? I always have trouble with it so if someone happens to know what version of the game the above is and how to patch it I would love it!
The second question is about converting my character from BDG1 to BDG2
Will I keep all my items/gold/exp?
Third question:
In BDG2 you start out with Imoen, Jaheira, Minsc and Boo. If you play through BDG1 with other partymembers will you end up using them when you start BDG2?
Fourth:
If you played through the first game with the above mentioned party and you import into BG2, will their stats be converted as well?
Fifth:
If I use tutu and such will the experience cap for BDG1 be gone?
----------------
Alternative questions:
How do I find out what versions of the game I have and how to mod them?
How can I remove the levelcap for BDG1 and 2?
I heard something about a modcompilation, does this mean I only have one mod to rule them all?
----------------
A lot of questions and some tough ones, thanks for the information people!
A few questions from an old fan: Party, mods, conversion

I am still having trouble using TuTu, I am going to try again tonight and report back if I find a solution on installing it. I have found a few answers to other questions:
While importing the savegame or character from BG1 to BG2 I should keep some of the items, I asked people at nearinfinity forums about this. So I should be able to keep some of the nifty items found in BG1 even while using TuTu.
You always start out with the same partymembers in BG2 no matter what group you picked in BG1. So to make the roleplaying experience a bit more logical I'll pick the usual suspects.
Their stats will also be set to the regular BG2 setup.
Removal of the 161000 experience cap is possible but while importing those characters into BG2 it might cause problems. BG2 has a 161000 xp cap for imported characters. So no level cap remover for me
-----
I still haven't found out what versions I have, I can check the readme and it will tell me what versionnumber but not if it's international or a UK version. The patches should work but I do not know if this affects TuTu, testing this once more tonight.
Levelcap removal for BG2 is something I am still curious about, I won't try it for 1. I don't know if I actually ever reached the cap for TOB or if there even is a cap.
Still no idea about this big mod...
------
I am going to update this as I find more answers, this forum might be less lively than back in the day or people might not know the answers to my questions. Hence reporting back might help others.
Cheers!

The only item you'll be able to 'keep' on transferring from B to SoA are the Golden Pantaloons. They won't be on your character but behind a nearby painting.
If you're playing vanilla BG, then you can keep your items by exploiting a glitch Spoiler, highlight to read:End of spoiler.
However this (the glitch exploitation) doesn't work with Tutu, a few items have the same ID tag in both games but most of them in Tutu are preceded by an underscore (e.g. _Arow01.itm) these will not transfer into SoA. If you have Shadow Keeper then this can be overcome.

If you keep pressing I when the opening scene is loading to open your inventory, you can then drop evrything on the floor, and then pick the stuff up again one the cutscenes have finished

I have tried to import my character from BG to BG2 ToB, not cheating and i still get my items from bg1 to bg 2. However it will ruin the feeling of complitin the whole saga though. There are just 4 items on my list on what i would transfer, the pants (but they are behind the painting), the two swords from drizzt, Cloak of Balduran (25% magic ressist and +1 saves).

De Priester, there are mods up at The Pocket Plane Group that can among other things remove the experience cap. But I can't tell you if they work with any version other the one distributed in the US. Have you checked to see if there's an Amsterdam forum on BG, or perhaps a Yahoo group? That might be your best bet.
