Playing Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts right now. Needs a little getting used to, but once I passed that hurdle, it's a pretty good game.

Currently playing FIFA 09 DEMO.
Played the demo and it feels better then the last years version but through passes at their default setting are still horrible. Some other minor annoyances are still there, but thats partially because I don't know the complete control scheme yet. Presentation is impressive though. One thing that doesn't seem changed, which I had major issues with last year, is that there is no sense of difficulty. If you play on anything above beginner...all teams whether they are 4 or 1 star play almost at the same difficulty. There is no clear gap in quality between teams on opposite ends.

I know it's aging nicely right now, but because I have no console I've been consoling myself with hour upon hour of Sins of a Solar Empire, a wonderful creation out of Ironclad games. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good Strategy experience. Some forewarning though, there's no campaign mode.
Also got a chance to play FFXII a bit a few weeks back. Definitely the other title which is a little old but which I still haven't completed. I want to keep a hand on what the story line is doing and I keep getting busy enough to forget what is going on and restart again.

Playing Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway and Project Eden. As for BiA: Hell's Highway, it's pretty stable out of the box (even without any patches), overall, and plays well on my machine. In fact, I actually enjoyed it more than the first BiA, even though some of the level design can be unsatisfactory, coupled with some AI quirks and poor story pacing.
Lack of a save game option is a bit of a bummer, though, given that the checkpoints are rather spaced out, the same problem present in the first game as well. At least they replaced the health system with auto-healing to make it less frustrating, something I welcome for a game like this.

I've been playing Hell's highway too and I found it way to easy with the new health system and the new covering system. The authentic difficulty however is extremely difficult with no HUD and with the covering system, where you now have NO crosshair. Seriously, how am I supposed to kill people in 3d person view and new crosshair. Yeah sure, I could get out of cover, but it's like if you don't have cover on, you automaticly get shot.DesR85 wrote: Lack of a save game option is a bit of a bummer, though, given that the checkpoints are rather spaced out, the same problem present in the first game as well. In the end I really played the game for the story line.
Not that it is a bad game, it's just not as good as the previous two.

Somewhat agree, but bear in mind that Gearbox have a strong focus on realism, hence the removal of health packs and the cross-hair (PC version get to keep the cross-hair, though) to name a few in the first game. That is what I recall reading in one of their interviews prior to the first game's release.SupaCat wrote:I've been playing Hell's highway too and I found it way to easy with the new health system. So, since they're clearly intent on keeping with the 'no health pack' mentality, it seems reasonable for them to adopt this new health system. As for me, I don't really care what health system any shooter use. As long as they remain challenging, I'm all for one or the other.

Yes, but that's what I don't like about BiA 3, it just isn't as challenging as before. When my teammates were first shot in BIA 3, I mourned their loss, but hey, once I got to a checkpoint and could just get them back 'Hey weren't you dead' 'Yeah, but at this checkpoint there is... a medicstation?' . The game lost one of its prime components, the so called 'Band of Brothers' feeling. I had to load my game 2 times or so, just because of a stupid mistake I made, while in the previous 2 about 100 times. I mean in those games, I wasn't busy trying to kill Germans and move on, I was trying to save my own ass.DesR85 wrote:As long as they remain challenging, I'm all for one or the other.
(Also, the crosshair is only removed in the authentic version.)
Also, I started playing Tetris. Now that's a addictive game!
