It ends installation by saying:
ERROR! Cannot perform auto update, exiting.
Sys error too many open files.
What to do?

Almost spam now, for I just went and manually did it all...
Sorry to spam.
But, many thanks to all for STILL keeping the BG community alive. When I give someone or something my love, it does not go away, so I will probably be playing BG till I die, though OS creates more and more difficulties for me, I have had to set up an old-ish machine with XP, for I cannot get BG to work properly on Vista.
