KOTOR 2 Ending (spoilers)

Post by guacamoledeath »

I beat the game as a Light Sider, but I'm wondering if I missed some key to activating the best ending? I enjoyed the game the whole way through, but there was no finale, no epilogue! I defeated Kreia, heard her ramble about the future, then the Ebon Hawk swooped down and picked me up before the Academy fell apart. Is that supposed to be it? Is there some extra animation sequence after all the credits finish rolling?

I'm just wondering, since the first KOTOR had definitive closure to all matters. Mine showed Mira running into the Academy behind me after defeating Hanharr...what happened with her? And Bao Dur's remote was being held hostage by G0-T0 at the fourth buried Republic ship's power core...what happened there?

Perhaps I didn't gain enough influence with some characters during the game (I only trained Atton and the Handmaiden). If anyone can let me know if there's supposed to be a better Light Side ending, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, this is a sad disappointment to an otherwise terrific game.

Yeah, I agree, you don't even get to see the Ebon Hawk one last time on the dark side ending.

If that was true, then why does the Walkthrough say that we get to know the fate of our fellow companions and the planets we touched?

I just finished as darksider and all I saw was Malachor V with tons of ships respectively pieces around it.

On another website I found someone say they had a choice when talking to Kreia after the second defeat:
After you beat Kreia for the second time, you have the end game epilogue conversation and everything is pulled together. However, Kreia mentioned I had a choice to either put myself back in exile, follow Revan or merely leave Malachor V.
I never got a choice in dialogue like that. Did I do something wrong?
I also never saw any of the mentioned epilogue info:
After the battle, if you remain composed, you will have a final chance to learn the fate of the planets you've touched and of the party members who've traveled with you.
I'm a little disappointed :(

I looked under the video sequences - but saw that only 52 of 65 were unlocked. Did I miss something? Or is it because I was DS straight through, that some didn't get unlocked? Is it here that I'm missing the videos about the fate of the planets and friends?

When you speak with Kreia for the last time, you should get the dialogue option about the future of your companions - that's the only info, no videos about that.

I know that somewhere floating about the web are some unused dialogue tracks etc. for how the ending was meant to happen, if Obisidian had been given the time to finish the game by LA, and I presume Team Gizka's Restoration Project have done some work on it too. As far as I remember, the unused dialogue suggests that Malachor was always going to be quite a heavy, dark ending to the game, even if you took the LS path.
As it is, the ending for either side is quite ambiguous - one of the reasons that the lack of a proper K3 is so frustrating.
