All I am going to say is play the game as a Malkavian, doesn't matter the sex. You'll figure it out, sooner rather than later, that way.

There's nothing in the game (that I know of??) to clearly indicate which of them is the original inhabitant of the body, all that we know is that one of them was embraced and invented the other. Their story is pretty cool, but I find them both really annoying so I'm happy when their part of the game is over.

What is actually interesting, playing as a Malk, it provides you with insights that other characters don't quite have. After healing Mercurio, and talking about the power players in Santa Monica, before you meet with the Voerman sisters, you ask about the faces of Janus. When you first play through, up until a certain point, they can be twins, unless you play as a Malk, and then you see that they are the same person.

That picture is a painting. Paintings can be made up. There are many things that show you that she is one person. "because I had fallen asleep in Therese's bed" I would guess that means she would normally be Therese at night but had stayed Jeanette. They are easy to tell appart. It is common in real life. Think about it. She could have shot her father without knowing it because the other personality (the controling and protective one) took over. Anyone who shoots their father at that young age would be bound to go to therapy. And take drugs..."they seperated us for a while" Drugs could have stopped it and when she stopped taking them, or when she was embraced especially as a Malkavian, the personality got worse to where they could now interact with eachother frequently.

Also.

I believe it would be Therese as the inhabitant. Seeing as what her father did to her (especially because if a father did that, then mental issues run in the family) she created the rebellious slut Jeanette. Which makes more sense because she tries to tell people what Therese tries to hide. Cry for help?

Her split personality seems to be the result of sexual abuse, which often results in a PTSD (post traumaitc stress disorder) and sometimes, how I wrote, in a split personanilty. It's a protective mechanism of the human psyche, eventhough it's not a perfect solution (at least from the view of our modern scientific understanding).

Regarding the painting:
I guess that it was made after the whole story of her childhood. Or another possibility is of course, that there was a Jeanette and a Therese and one of them got killed during the fight and the surviving one incorporated her into her own psyche. A third possible but maybe improbable alternative is, that the other personality is really existent in the madness network :)

The "sister" are Malkavian. However, I think that they already had split-personality before they ever were Turned. Also, they are both, to one degree or another, a little on the homicidal side, as well.
