Gecko Powerplant

I've entered the above ground area of the powerplant (on route to repair it), however I can't find a way down to the lower level. There is a big pit in the main room but no sign of how to get down it

In all the walktrhoughs there is no mention of how, they all seem to assume that it is obvious, well I've obviously missed it

Hope someone can help 'cause I'm stumped.

I might be off on this, but there isn't an underground level in the Ghecko powerplant. Just a bunch of doors that require red/yellow/blue keycards. They can be found on various shelves and pickpocketed from ghouls.

Unfortunatley not, the above ground section is simply a large empty room with a big hole in it - no doors, no ghouls, robots or anything else to interact with

That's what's supposed to happen. Are you using any mods? Even if not, back up your saves, uninstall the game, clean all file (except the saves) and re-install it in a fresh directory. Apply the appropriate patches.

im having the same problem gettin to the lower part of the plant to repair it i have been before in an old game, i think i used a rope somewhere on the big hole an got down but it doesnt seem to work please help

Are you actually inside the powerplant (the entrance to powerplant is IIRC east/north-east part of the map where you first arrive) or in ruins of powerplant? Those two are different areas. The area you should go is the actual powerplant, inside area. There is no hole where you need to use rope, the reactor is very intact.
