Help with Thieves guild

I want to join Thieves guild in Balmora but when I clicked on topic "join Thieves guild" on Sugar Lips Habasi she told me that they have standards but I do not meet them.

What is that?

Can you help me please?

I am playing as a Breton, mage-wise but I have no low skills or stats.
I could be that I have killed someone from Thieves guild that she does not want to take me in?

Have you done the Code book quest for the Fighters Guild by ay chance? If so I suggest searching the forum, that conflict has been discussed numerous times.

Yes, you are right.

I did the Code Book quest for Fighter guild.

Is that mean that because of that I cannot join Thieves guild?
