Favourite Companion/NPC.

Post by Elias De vere »

Hi guys, sorry if this has been posted before, but i was wondering who was your favourite companion/NPC you met in the OC. Mine were Khelgar, Captain Brelana, Nasher, Grobnar, and Casavir. What were yours?
Skandaman, back from the dead, and now kicking butt again. Fear him for he's angry and fillled with sugar. Mmm sugar. :)

I'd have to say Khelgar, Elanee and Zhjaeve.

I liked Qara the best! I really like that straight and cold thinking of hers. That little power hungry bastard... He he. Just like me... What can i say? :P

Power for those who have the talent and ambition to grasp it!!!

Vote Sort-vampyr for world domination (^^)

Neeshka though was the most fun!! But of course her best jokes are meant for khelgar... You've gatta put em together and just watch the play unfold!

I haven't even completed chapter 1 yet though... There's still some companions I haven't met... They might be just as good as Qara and Neeshka or even better... Hu hu!.. Can't wait... More adventure awaits!!!
Did I just roll 1 on a save vs. death? DANG! *>.<

I really liked Sand and Bishop for interaction... Neeshka too but since I play a multiclass rogue/warlock... I had little need for her.

Well, I didn't really like any of them, but (and I know most won't agree) I would have to say Grobnar. I thought the voice acting for his character was well done, and I liked the comic relief.

I would have to pick Bishop as second, I didn't care for the rest although some of the dialogue between Khlegar and Neeshka was amusing.

My favorite character in the whole game was old man Tavorick (the guy you had to save from the demons), his lines were hilarious

I liked Bishop because he didn't waste too much my time with his backstory. I'm getting pretty sick of games that feel more like interactive movies than video games.
Khelgar was entertaining, moreso when he was in Lord of the Rings and named Gimli.
And I liked Neeshka, but not as much as when she was called Annah in PS:Torment. Or Mission in KOTOR...

Elanee and Bishop were mine. Elanee because I guess I prefer to play druids. And Bishop because he was a bad ass. I also liked the fighting abilities of these two, Elanee and her Dire Bear wildshape plus natural spell feat and throwing some lighting bolts here and there. And then give Bishop the monkey grip feat, hand him some falchons and let him loose. Seeing those two tear up some ogres and goblins... Erotic 0_0.

I liked Elanee because she could buff the whole party with Barkskin. Quara because she could metamagic IGMs and kill difficult enemies...plus she betrayed me and I got to kill her because her AI was too stupid to own me with her awesome defensive/offensive spell selection I gave her. I liked Neeshka because she could pick locks and get me treasure.

Kelgar was useful in the first part before Neverwinter (and beyond too) with his great cleave and high strength.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

Neeshka and Khelgar were funny (off the boat), Quara and Neeshka (with Khelgar again) were even funnier (in the Tavern), Old man Tavorick - better still, but Deekin and Grobnar .. THAT was funny.

Ammon Jerro had some decent depth, but his underlying story wasn't really plausible.
Cassivir was about as inspiring as Zhjaeve (..snore).
Elanee was everything you don't want in a "companion", controlling and manipulative, superior and self-righteous (despite often being wrong). Modest character depth, but off-putting.
Grobnar was a pot-head office worker, who tried to be funny but failed. He was kind'a sad actually.
Khelgar was actually a complete character (evolving) with good character depth, stereotypical but like-able and a good voice.
I liked Neeshka's voice and curiosity - decent character depth, but didn't like her timidity.
Quara and Bishop were petulant snots. Occasionally witty but one-dimensional.
Sand was fairly boring, but while often appearing "superior" - did have a bit more character depth.
Shandra didn't make much sense with her "flip-flop" "integration" in the plot. She initially injected a more than healthy dose of reality that disturbed your suspension of disbelief (..and getting involved in the game), and then all of a sudden was wandering around in your "troop".. what?
Zhjaeve was both boring and about as insightful as what ever is sticking to the sole of Dak'kon's (PS Torment) shoes.

I thought that MOTB's characters were for the most part worse.

Sayfia's neutrality was interesting but developed in-game as incidental. There was however a plot-reason for this, so I can "let it slide". Gann had some depth but was entirely too "flippant" to be like-able. The rest were one-dimensional.. but in Kaelyn's case who cares (..the guys in the tavern summed it up nicely  ).

-as for a favorite.. I'm sure it was my imagination - but I could have sworn I overheard Kana "disciplining" Tavore in my private chambers in Crossroad Keep.:speech: :D

Not only barkskin my friend let's not forget flame weapon and bull's strength and the other animal attrubute spells. And lightning storm and ice bolt was nothing to sneeze at.

I've just finished my first playthrough. Adalon is my favorite person in all of Fearûn, I think. I'm still not sure whether he was at all aware that he was being held captive! His absent-minded nature really reminds me of a good friend of mine. Grobnar was really cool too. Very funny how he treated the Construct as his child, and his insane quest for the Wendersnaven was really cool too.

Among the less 'comic relief' kind of characters, know that Zhjaeve instantly won my trust and friendship. I liked Sand very much, for his large spellbook, his good advice during the investigation, and his funny, cynical attitude. Casavir was great too.. he was the moral compass that guided my character from chaotic neutral to neutral good.

You now bear the awesome responsibility of the Metal "Unit". Gussets of wind, seams like reality, pockets of resistance, the seat of power, and legs as flared as your temper. Polish it well; the onus is now on you.

Neeskha and Khelgar were my favorites, and get my vote for MVP too.

I don't hold on tightly to my initial alignment to the exclusion of other paths. If I happen to become more evil by the way a campaign forces me into evil decisions, I go that way. But this campaign sort of pushes you to either side of the spectrum, and the really evil side is not what I felt would be the path my character would take. She was interested mostly in herself, but smart enough to see the advantages of working for Neverwinter. And the advantage of letting Casavir influence me.

She just took the easiest path.. I will go for something more difficult on my next playthrough. Either going to play it as entirely lawful good devout person (which I think is an alignment that cannot be bent or changed without breaking the suspension of disbelief) or as a truly evil bitch.
