UnderSigil only 2 things to kill? *SPOILERS

Post by sonny »

I've been in UnderSigil for some time now killing Trelons and Worms. After several hours of this and nothing else spawning, can I assume there are no other types of creatures down here to kill?
And the most I can hope to get down here is the 8000 xp's from each worms?

Thanks
Sonny :) :)
They turned me loose from the nervous hospital. Said I was well.

i've heard that, after a certain point in the game, different monsters appear. never tried it out myself though. not sure how far you've got in the game so i won't say when it is though.

Undersigil is just a place for testing and improving your fighting skills. The area is totally optional, there's no quest, only fighting XP and loot.

If you return later in the game there's a chance for a different monster type to appear, but you still won't get something else besides fighting XP and loot.

If you manage to free the place from all monsters in one go (if you leave for resting all monsters will respawn) you really have a powerful party.

Every time you leave the area, it resets itself with a whole new batch of monsters. It doesn't matter whether you killed one, none, or all of them the last time you were there. You don't have to rest; you can go right back in.

I keep one person by the exit (usually Fall-From-Grace) to pull everyone out of the area if they ever run into any trouble. Only one person has to reach the exit in order for the entire group to leave.

About halfway through the game (depending on how you manage the quests), you will leave Sigil. If you've played BG2: Shadows of Amn, it's sort of like going to Spellhold in the sense that when you leave the main city, you won't be coming back for a while. When you return to Sigil, a new monster will appear at random in Under Sigil along with the worms and trelons. It's a very dangerous monster, but you will only have to fight one of them at a time. It's worth 70,000 experience, and it drops some really nice treasure. You'll either get 600-800 gold pieces or (with less probability) a random item that's really cool.

If Annah is over 13th level with a 5x backstab multiplier and you've boosted her Strength up to 19 or 20 with tattoos and spells like Power of One (it's in Dak'kon's spell book), she can kill everything you meet down there in two hits or less (including the big one). Have her hide in shadows, attack, run away, and hide in shadows again. The monsters turn around and return to their original position when Annah is hidden by the fog of war, so you don't have to worry about being swarmed. Nordom is also very capable of killing the worms and trelons, especially if you boost his Strength and equip him with an item like the Lens of Seeing Double. He can kill trelons in about three shots and worms in about five shots, which gives him plenty of time before they reach him if you attack them one at a time. If you play it the right way, Annah and Nordom will rarely ever get hit. The rest of the party can wait by the exit if managing all of them at once (and healing them when they get hit) gets to be too tedious.

Thanks everyone. So leaving the area and coming back later in the game will result in harder monsters and better loot in the UnderSigil. Good to know :D

I have been using Annah and her hide and back stab exclusively to kill the worms. Takes awhile but it works.

Since this is the 1st time playing PS:T, I don't know how far I progressed in the game. I have tried to find and complete all quest in every area I've visited (sure I've missed some). I pretty sure from reading my journal , talking to Morte, checking quest log, and from everything I can remember, the next place I need to visit is Ravel's Maze. Not sure what to expect there, so trying to build party up a little first in the UnderSigil. :D
TNO is still only Lv 10 fighter.

Thanks again
Sonny :) :)

Spoiler as the greater monster down there:
Spoiler
I've only seen it once, it was only once down there, but it is a Greater Gelugon. And it wasn't that hard for my party to kill. I believe it is the same type of creature that Iquiox (sp?) In the Smoldering Corpse Bar is, but he is in disguise and will only reveal himself if you kill the two abishai and somehow talk him into revealing himself. When I killed that creature in the bar it only gave me 12K XP
