Now, as some of you might remember, in the previous versions of Fallout you could "squat" levels (in lack of a better term, I guess), if you had a low(er) Intelligence and didn´t enter the Character screen. If you got an Intelligence raise, your skillpoints pr. squatted level would be raised retrovertically (is that the correct word?), if you had stayed out of the Character screen for some levels. The drawback was tht if you did this for more than 3 levels, you would lose a perk.
Now, my question is: How does that manifest itself in Fallout 3? Do the same rules apply for skillpoints, if you never touch the Character screen for a few levels and then get an Intelligence raise, thus raising the skillpoints for the prvious levels by the new Intelligence score? And do you lose perks in the same manner as in the original Fallout, if you do this?
Level squatting and skillpoints/feats.

well for one thing in this version you get a perk every level not every three or four depending on what starter perks you took in FO1. As for the other part of your question can you reserve your levels to min-max the most skillpoints out of the level up, since other then the bobblehead upgrade to intell, the only way to get your intell up is to take the level ups and do it. But I warn that there are more important perks that would be more important then spending one of the 10 times you can get a S.P.E.C.I.A.L. point since there is only 20 levels in the game you need to use your Perks very wisely. Use this Fallout 3 @ GameBanshee to help you plan your perk list you intend to get. Had I known on my first run threw, there was only 20 levels, I would have done things differently. You will still be able to get perks through doing quests for people thus continuing to upgrade your character.
In Fallout 3, the game automatically brings up the character screen when you gain a level, and you have to choose your skill points and perk when it comes up. So you can't "squat," I guess.Darth Malignus wrote:Now, my question is: How does that manifest itself in Fallout 3? Right.Darth Malignus wrote:So, skipping a feat at lvl 10 and choosing 2 from the feats at lvl 12 is not possible then?

Hm. In Oblivion there was a switch setting in the oblivion.ini configuration file along the lines of bForceLevelup (it's probably not that). Seeing as how these games are alike, you might want to see if it's in F3 also. The one problem may be that there might not be a key to 'initiate' levelup up on command. Perhaps that can still be assigned in another config file.
