For enabling cheats (that helped me) :
(Firstly write in the swkotor.ini file EnableCheats=1 under Game options)
Take the assingnmentfile of sw-kotor2,
than rightclick on it -> properties, and write in the destination area:
C:\Programme\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\swkotor2.exe +sv_cheats 1
than start game and press [reverse button ] (or however you say it in english . The button over Strg.) + [^] (to the left of the 1 ).
than type in the cheat and confirm with [Enter]

I SOLVED IT!!!! Win7 64 bit
Okay so Ive been reading this thread and looking at the youtube videos and the billions of replys from complete R-tards but I finally figured it out...
Run the shortcut as administrator. When I did that, hitting the squiggly key (thats what I call the button on the left of the 1 key) stopped my character and allowed me to type a code. For some reason with me it didnt see the saved game I made before so I had to recreate the profile again.
I hope this helps.

kotor 2 .ini file help with cheats
Hey,
I was just wondering if anyone could help me out. Im trying to enable the cheats in kotor2. i go into the swkotor2.ini file and under game options i type EnableCheats=1 and when I go to save it says that access is denied. It wont let me save the file, thus I am unable to activate the cheats.
does anyone know a way around this perchance?

Try right-clicking on the INI file to make sure it isn't set to Read-Only. It can look like it's being saved with changes, but they wouldn't take in that case.sphinx wrote:ok well i just ran it as administrator and got it to save but it doesnt enable the cheats...i put EnableCheats=1 under game options, and under disablemovies=0
niether worked. every time i go to bring down the console i go to type and my ccharacter keeps movin around

hey thanks for all the input...i ended up figuring it out after trying everything that you suggested.
I ran notepad in administrator and typed EnableCheats=1 under game options and it let me save. then i right clicked the short cut to kotor2 and ran it under administrator and it works with cheats and all. thanks again all

Bump. The problem persists.
I have the right .ini file modified the way it should be, and I know it saved, all shortcuts are set to run under administrator, and still, the console does not work. after pressing the ` key I am still able to move. I have also tried several different keys and combinations.

There are hardware issues with the tilde key if you are using a laptop with an infrared device. Don't ask me why. I've seen different fixes for this for different games, but a general one is to disable the infrared device.
Open the Windows XP/Vista registry. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters. There should be an entry named OverrideKeyboardSubtype with a type of REG_DWORD and a value of 2. Set the value to 0 and reboot. Now, uninstalling the IR drivers in the device manager (if you have them) will work to enable the console to come up. If you don't have any IR drivers, then just doing the reg change should fix it for you.
This fixed a similar issue for me with Battlezone 2. I have only used this on XP and Vista. No idea if the same key exists for Windows 7.

Possible solution
Im currently using a european querty keyboard
and the combo that finaly worked for me was :
shift + (the key directly left of backspace)
if sucessfull your character should stop moving and no other windows
should open while the console is active, the console will be hidden the entire time.
once you have typed what you need, press the NUMPAD enter key
and Viola
Hope this helps.
