I got major problems when trying to export / import my bg1 char to bg2.
When i export my char on the screen in bg1 actually no data or char file is stored in the characters folder. Anyone got an idea what to do now? running vista btw.

Rome was not built in a day, let the experienced guys have a little time to read your question and reply. It is annoying when, like Minsc, you are, "Armoured, poised and ready to go", but it may take a few days sadly.
I might add that I have not encountered your problem myself.
If you are as impatient as Minsc, you can just start a new game and use Shadowkeeper to recreate your BG I character.
Have fun, SoA is different from BG I, but nonetheless much fun and entertainment, with and without mods I have played it through to end at ToB 6-7 times over the last 4 years.

I know that it is different, also played it several times.

To import you character(s) from BG1, copy the appropriate save folder in the c:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Save folder to the c:\Program Files\BG II - SoA\Save folder.
If their isn't a SoA/Saves folder, simply quickly start a new game and one wil be created; exit the game then copy the folder.
Once the BG1 save is in place, select the Import option, then select the Saved Game option (not Character File), then select the appropriate saved game from the list, then the Character you want (if you were playing multi player).
