Military Base Tactics

OK, I'm stuck.....how am I supposed to take down umpteen Mutants with just a rifle and/or shotgun????? Even bringing Cassidy and Marcus along it's still a one-sided battle. I must be missing some clever tactic.??????

Rifle and shotgun aren't good weapons against mutants - they (mutants) have a lot of HPs and you must shoot several times to take one mutant down. You can try shooting them in the eyes with your shotgun, but I doubt it will be of great help. I suggest you should try to find better weapons - at least combat shotgun and/or sniper rifle - but it probably will still be a hard time killing all the mutants. Heh, you can always lower difficulty of the game also, if you don't mind it

BTW, what level are you? What skills do you raise and what armor and equipment do you have? What are your stats?

Stats

I'm level 17 w/ 115 HP's. I am using sniper rifle and/or combat shotgun. AC is 27. I just thought there might be some clever little trick I was missing.

As I said, it is pretty difficult even with these weapons. Ok, you can do a lot of damage with sniper rifle if you have a high small guns skill making shots in the eyes but that takes a lot of AP also. I think you should find some better weapons for you and your comrades. And the only little trick that I'd suggest is (a minor spoiler here)
