Razors Pointe - this is making me crazy

Post by Ellipsis »

Ok, so maybe this is a really stupid question, but how the hell do I get to Razors Pointe?
We're supposed to find the corpse of the princess of Dernholm there, in order to complete the quest her father, the King, gave us.
The thing is, even though the location has already appeared on the World Map, I can never select it. And I've tried doing that while East and West of the mountain that divides the map, but it makes no difference.
The closest I got was by marking a nearby point and walking along the coast; I actually found the shipwreck site and a few barrels on the beach, but I can't get to the ships (and, I suppose, the girl's body) because there's a rocky formation (Razors Pointe itself, I presume) that doesn't allow me to cross to the other side of the beach.

I know this is a minor quest, but I want to complete it, and this is bugging me.

You may want to see SMetzler's walkthrough on Gamespot ;)

@ R4x0r: I thought about this too. Ship captains won't take you there (there is no such option) but in order to go to Thanatos you need to get your own boat. However, Razors Pointe was not a travelling option as well after getting said boat...

@ Jimwth: Thank you for the suggestion! =) The walkthrough said: "if you journey back to Blackroot, and from there head SW towards Caladon and go as far along the coast as it it possible to go, you come to a place called Razors Pointe (1504 W, 1772 S). There are two shipwrecks there. If you make your way along the path that runs through shallow water, you'll find a lot of Barrels and Chests. Unfortunately, you also find Aria's body on the deck of the second ship".
It sounds a lot like what I did (marking a nearby point and then following the coast...), but maybe I missed something. I'll try it again and post about it later.

Sorry, I couldn't give you a more precise explanation/solution to this one :o I just remember that it's not so difficult. I too spent a hell of a time trying to figure out how to solve this quest and then I did it, I just can't remember how exactly :( :o Sorry again, thought the walkthrough might has been of help to you :)

1) You don't get there by boat, you get there as the walkthrough suggested.

2) Once you get there you walk into the water, you should be able to see that there is a pathway, it's a lighter (IIRC) shade than the rest of the water; you can in fact walk around the wreck on the sea side. On the path you will find, apart from the barrels, a chest and eventually be able to climb up onto the quarterdeck of the wreck.

@ Jimwth: The walkthrough was very helpful, thank you! :)

@ Jimwth & galraen: You're both right, it wasn't difficult at all... I did everything right before, when I marked the nearby point, walked along the coast and found the shipwreck site, except - and I'm embarassed to admit - I missed the pathway in the water. :o Yeah. After that, everything went as expected: more barrels and chests and princess Aria's body on the boat.

So, thank you all for your replies and sorry for my lack of attention!

No need for apologies, Ellipsis. I think GB forums were created for gamers to help each other ;) :)
