bug in the mage guild vampire quest? (SPOILERS)

Post by adb »

So i'm doing the mage guild quest, the one called "information at a price" where u have to get rid of vampires and vampires slayers in skingraad.i've killed all the vampires and told the leader of the slayers where to go to find them.he aknowledged the place but won't go there.
i killed them also but when i got out of jail i lost like 10 different skill points.
So how do i make the leader go to the cave?
Or how to avoid loosing that much points after murders or going to jail.

cheers

Spoiler, highlight to read:
Spoiler
Simple, you don't tell the vampire hunters about the cave, not much point if they're all dead! You tell them that the vampires have been killed, he then moans about amatures and takes a hike. You then go and see the Duke, quest over.
I suggest you state 'spoiler' or 'possible spoiler' in your title in future, or the mods aren't going to be very happy with you.

Pretty much as Galraen notes. I'll change your thread title to reflect spoilers this time. Next time your thread might mysteriously vanish. ;)

Another way to go at it is, (highlight to read - possible spoiler)Tell him were the vampires are then wait for a day or two and go there yourself. You'll probably find them dead in there, which is what I preferred :D

ok i seem to have a problem i've told the leader the info and they re not going to the cave. Also i became a vampire in the progress, not willingly though, and the count of skingraad has not the subject of the vampire cure in the speech list?
from i read the vampire cure can only be found with the count wife through a collecting ingrdients mission. But i can't make the mission to start.
please help, being a vampire sucks.

Lots of spoilers

Spoilers:
Spoiler
The count probably won't have the vampirism cure topic available until after you complete the current quest. Not sure why the vampire hunters won't go away. Try leaving the city, waiting a couple days, and going back. If that doesn't work, you'll have to kill them. If you can kill them in one blow without any witnesses, you won't get any bounty/jail time. Two of them spend a good deal of time outside the city walls, so it's not too difficult to get them out of sight of possible witnesses. The other two are harder to kill with discretion. All the vampire hunters sleep at two rooms at the Two Sisters Lodge so if you kill at least one of them in the wilderness, you'll always be able to find at least one of them alone in bed at night.
If you do get a bounty you can avoid the skill loss by paying your fines instead of going to jail. If you can't afford it, make sure you save a game right before you get arrested. The skill loss is random, and if it's too unreasonable you can always re-load the game and see if the skill loss is more acceptable the next time.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?

Another way

another way is to tell the hunter that you already dealt with the vampires the hunter asks or proof and you show him some vamp dust worked great with me

had the same problem

i had the same problem. i told them were the vampires are and they didn't go there. i waited two days around them just to see they weren't moving from town. i killed the vampires myself and then returned to deal with them. I tried killing them in their sleep but fighting the all four of them was not very easy. the space is small and the guards rush in at the first screams. i waited for the day and approached them one by one. the leader goes often in the back yard of a house. it's easy to kill him with no witnesses. the second is near a statue behind the chapel. also an easy kill. the third was in field outside the city. easy as well. the fourth was trickier. he stands on the road from the castle to the city gate and two guards are patrolling all the time. wait until the are at distance and then kill the hunter as soon as possible. the guards heard the screams but he was already dead when they arrived an i was running away. i escaped only with a bounty of 100 or so. also, for vampirism cure you have to speak first with raminous poulos at arcane university. he directs you to count. before talking to raminous i spoked to a monk i found on the road between kvatch and the camp of refugees from kvatch, who directed me to raminous. however, it is best that you have some cure disease potions on you and heal at the moment you contract polymorphic hemophilia from vampires. praying in chapels also cures you. YOU MUST NOT SLEEP to increase your level if you have the polymorphic hemophilia. there are big chances to wake up 25% vampire. and now you really have to do the cure quest.

This place isn't looking to active, but I don't know where else to turn. I went to the lodge, talked to the Eridor, told him everything. They wouldn't budge, so I packed up and headed to the cave myself, cleaned house. Went back to the lodge to tell them the Vamps were wasted, no dialog option. Nothing. Is killing these guys my only choice? Will it have an effect on my Knights of the Nine armor? I now murdering had an effect during the KotN quests, but does it still?

EDIT: Ha, it didn't look active cause I had the posts sorted the wrong way! Lol.

Once you have killed the Vampires, find Eridor again and talk to him, tell him that you've killed the Vampires and give him some Vampire Ash as proof and he should then complain about 'amateurs' and your journal should update. Then go and talk to the Count again.

Note however that if you have the Allies for Bruma quest active the Mages guild can get disrupted, complete the Skingrad portion of the AfB quest to clear the disruption if necessary.

I haven't done any of the main quest with this character yet, only gotten as far as escaping from the imperial sewers. I snatched all the vampire ash/dust I could when killing them, got back to Eridor, no dialog option. Waited a few days. Afternoon, night, nothing. I ended up just killing them, no bounty and my armor wasn't effected. Sucks, though, I now have 4 murders recorded. :(

You may have been able to get them killed without getting a murder on your record. Just wate for them to be passing a guard and cast Frenzy on them, works a treat.

Didn't have Frenzy, and only 600 gold.
