Wow, it seems that there's no consent, which might mean that I've still got my chances with the UD hunter. I ignored the Cavalier since I wanted to put some points in bows just in case, but later found out that I just lost that proficiency point since Mazzy is self-sufficient as an archr. I thought to use Keldorn as an Inquisitor, but felt sorry for him and his family and left them rejoin. After all, I felt that that's what I should do from a role-playing point.

So, thanks for the help everyone.

Oh, there's consent. It's well-noticed that the Undead Hunter is very useful and a lot better than a vanilla paladin (so is the Cavalier), but from a Powergaming perspective the Inquisitor is just way above everyone else, and every player who is on ascension/tactics-level knows this.

The Inquisitor might in fact be the most powerful character class in the entire game. Maybe not for solo purposes, but in a group. As I've said before, he has the ability to dispel generally speaking everything in the entire game, and every fight that proves difficult does include dispelling in one way or another.

Besides, his dispelling is Abjuration. Immunity to Abjuration will keep your own casters out of its way, meaning you can freely dispell wherever it pleases you and the worst thing that'll happen is that your divine casters will have their iron skins removed.

There's no contest, really. The Inquisitor is by far the most powerful paladin class, even though the other specialist paladin classes are preferable over all pure-classed fighter/rangers. They're all powerful, but a well-played Inquisitor is practically a gamebreaker and SHOULD be in every powergaming party there is.

Notice that you can easily complete every game and every mod with any class you'd like. If you'd rather have an undead hunter, pick one. I am just talking technical mumbo-jumbo here. It's not like you actually need an Inquisitor, it's just that he's ridiculously overpowered.

The only debate I've ever had with myself regarding Paladins was surrounding what weapon styles and types to choose. Do I go with two handed swords for Carsomyr, Sword and Shield for Purifier, or two-weapon style for any combination of weapons.

Frankly, the Carsomyr becomes obselete with an Inquisitor. The Dispel effect on each hit doesn't matter when you can hit the enemy with an instant-cast uber powerful dispel and not have to worry about hitting them.

The Carsomyr dispelling ability rarely ever dispells anything anyway, while the Inquisitor rarely fails to dispel. It is still a very good weapon due to its high level - it's the easiest available +5 weapon and the 50% MR is absolutely amazing.

For a solo paladin I'd go with another combination, but in a party my paladins rarely wields any other weapon.

In my opinion, a combination such as The Purifier (upgraded) in the main hand with Crom Faeyr in the off-hand would maximize damage for an Inquisitor while not really giving much up. In the early game, Carsomyr is great, but it gets weaker in comparison to other weapons the farther into the game you get.

Purifier mainhand? Purifier is an off-hand weapon. If you want damage, the Fire Giant Girdle and Flail of Ages would be a much better pick. Or the Axe of Unyielding for the decapitation chance.

Point is, the Inquisitor is a backup tank more than a damage dealer. 20% MR is good in those situations, and Carso is still able to deal its fair share of damage. Crom Faeyr and Flail of Ages is a lot more useful to other characters.

Carsomyr is a very simple pick that despite not being the "finest weapon in the realms" still is useful all the way through the game. Anything giving 50% Magical Resistance just have to be.

True enough, I forgot about the 23 Strength Belt. In that case AotU would go very well in the Main Hand.

I've got nothing against Carsomyr, it's hugely useful in SoA and for a while in ToB, but there are better weapon choices by the time the end of the game rolls along.
