Fallout 3 - Dissapointment?

Fallout 3 - Dissapointment?

Hey.
I was just wondering if anyone else found that Fallout 3 was a dissapointment, after all the fuss made about it coming out?
I mean, I'm not saying it was bad or anything but when I bought it I was like, "hell yeah, lets go play this" and then after a while I got bored of the fact that you had to go round finding everything so you could "fast-track" or w.e it was to the area you wanted to do, even though you got killed every two seconds so most of your gameplay hours would have been you saving your game.

And another thing that bored me was the fact that you had to go round searching through bins and stuff to find weapons and even when you did they only had about 2 bullets in each one.
I'm sure many people would of found this fun but I just found it annoying. Especially when you're trying to kill a supermutant and all you have is a Shiv because you used all your Ammo on a dog... good times.

But yeah I've ranted on abit, but basically let me know what you think.
Did you think it was a dissapointment?

No, I didn't find it dissapointment, in the contrary, I liked it more I thought I ever would.

The lack of ammo and thus scavenging every part of world fits to the theme of Fallout IMO, as everything should be scarce and nothing should be given easily.

Also, I didn't think that you were forced too early to the areas you couldn't handle, as Super Mutants were controllable with Assault Rifle, Combat Shotgun or SMG. Yes, that would mean hard time and actually think of when to shoot and when to run, but in my opinion the game shouldn't be just running around shooting everything without fear of ever getting killed.

Far from a dissappointment. It's not the best game I played, but it is the best one I played this year.

I find the main quest and the ending a disappointment. The side quests that you can do and all of the places you can explore, I find very satisfying.

That seconds my thoughts. To add on, I'm disappointed in the lack of companion relationship development, especially the lack of romance partners! There is virtually no romance at all in the game which sucked for me :(

Other than my computer crashing at random from playing the game, I actually do like Fallout 3, very much.

There could have been other things they could have added or changed to make it better in my eyes, but I still like it.

I like the game, although I miss the character interactions which were better in the earlier Fallouts.

After playing them, I suppose i am used to some of the more tedious aspects of the game such as searching corpses, bins, etc. At least you get an indication when they are empty in this game. :cool:

I liked it, my only beef was getting cool armor and plasma weapons getting all excited and then the game ended :(
I am thinking watching the credits roll by...thats it?...that sucks!

Absolutely love the game. IT is completely like any of the other FPS or Fable-esk games although it is in a formilier area. Since the release of the G.E.C.K. and the mods(which I suggest Fallout3nexus.com for downloading new mods and added content.) Keep in mind there is a lot of seriously mature contant and it requires you to make an account on that site and edit your profile to except adult themes. There is a ton of stuff coming out now that is all player made that is there to inhance your game play. Some of it is revamped toons while others is just plan adding extra companions.

check it out see if it helps you enjoy the game better. Malos(on the site mentioned above.) has some sweet female armors.

Disappointed in the game overall? Definitely not. My family encouraged me to play by telling me "it's like Oblivion in a sci-fi setting", and it definitely lived up to that billing. Oblivion is one of my top-5 favorite games of all time, and I generally tilt more toward sci-fi than fantasy in my reading & movie-going, so F3 is a win-win situation for me. I agree with Kipi that the scarcity of good weapons, ammo & supplies fits the atmosphere of the game, and getting killed 3 or 4 times in the first hour due to my Oblivion-based playing style quickly taught me new survival habits and got me immersed in the game world.

Disappointed in the ending? Yeah kinda, not so much because of the way the plot resolved (which was fitting) but because that's the kind of ending I expect from a more linear game. F3 has more of a sandbox feel and I was looking forward to tying up a lot of loose ends after I finished the main quest. Denied! :mad: Oh well, time to start a new character I guess...

For me the game is quite interesting on the whole, but a few things in fact are disappointing:
- after finishing the main quest, the game's over! Every good RPG (like Diablo 2, but even Dungeon Lords and many other ones) provides an option to go on exploring after "finishing" the game, why can't this one?
- Maximum character level can be reached way too quickly. What am I supposed to do with a level 20 character? He/she is "semi-immortal" anyway and cannot be developed further in any way!
- (especially later in the game) Good weapons and ammo are abundant. It's way too easy to run around with thousands of bullets for every weapon and hundreds of stimpaks. Where's the challenge? Or is the game supposed to become too easy after I

- Random spawns are supposed to become more difficult to deal with as the character progresses... this may be the case, but they don't become hard enough. With the

Baldur's gate (1 And 2)? Deus Ex? Kotor? Neverwinter Nights? Icewind Dale?

I don't actually see Diablo 2 as a Rpg and I never played Dungeon Lords.

The reason they didn't make you explore the rest of the world is because they had an ending (a bad one). Why would you want to explore the rest of the world anyway? Knowing Bethesda, they wouldn't have created enough new dialogues to let people know you actions and they wouldn't have changed the entire landscape just for that. Also, some 'endings' would have the abillity to keep on playing, while others end with dead. It would influence your roleplaying for sure.

Ps: Now that I think about it, this has been the second game of Bethesda (that I know of) that ended with sacrifce.

Excellent point. Right now the "rewards for good vs. evil" thread is a healthy debate, but it would be pretty lopsided if the rewards were good = dead, evil = alive & rich.

(edit) yeah, I realized after writing that's the way it sometimes turns out in real life. But if a game allows a wide variety of moral choices and wants to challenge the player's ability to roleplay a good character by testing their willingness to make noble sacrifies, the consequences of making the "good" choice should require sacrifice from the character, not from the player. Which comes back to the point that having some endings that kill the character and some endings that let you keep playing would be a bad idea.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?
