info for fable 2
im gettin fable 2 and i was wondering if anyone can give me a run down on the game(not a spoiler) just is it good, easy to control, or stuff like that. I know some things but can you sail or ride horses? Is it like the original? And anything else? how does it compare to games like oblivion?

Well for starters, no you cannot mount horses...In fact the only animals you really see that are realistic are your dog, chickens and Beatles...that shoot magic at you. I think the game is definitely worth it and its story line is a lot like that of the original but more extended and with various alterations. Now if you're used to Fable 1's controls then this game will be a little tricky at first since you don't start with block/dodge right off the bat. Also the magic system (in my opinion) is more complicated and harder to use. For instance if you max out two spells you can only use one fully powered spell at a time and have the other spell on its second strongest level. Also changing spells in combat isn't wise but you can pause the game and do so, so if you do it like that you can swap. You shouldn't need to though. Also in this game, ranged weaponry (bows, guns) have become actually useful. You no longer have to fully spec around brute force and in time, like fighting trolls, you'll find that brute force won't help you at all. It's definitely harder then Fable 1 but you never actually "die" you only get knocked out and come back a second later with a new scar as your punishment and loosing all exp that you didn't collect from recently killed enemies. Also, this annoyed me to great lengths in the original, of you're evil, you're not bald. Let me explain the transportation system to you.
In the original fable, when you tele-ported you were instantly sent to your location with no change in time what so ever. Instead your seal doesn't work like that in Fable 2. It has been replaced with what is pretty much Oblivion fast travel. You are instantly there but in-game, hours or even days have passed by, this actually gets annoying if you have a family....which is why I tend to kill mine. However, you can shorten the time changes with transports. There are ships and Carriages in major cities that will fast travel to other cities but will cut the time penalty down drastically. A more efficent fast travel in other words.
Now to further explain the block/dodge/flourish. This is very useful information since I was shocked to learn I couldn't do any of this at the beginning. Original fable, in your strength abilities, you had Physique, Toughness, and health. In Fable 2, you have Physique (acts the same as in number 1), Toughness (Instead of lowering damage taken this increases your health...or both, not sure), and last but not least Brutal Styles. Brutal Styles is what teaches your character his/her abilities in melee combat. On the first level you learn blocking. You hold the attack button to use it. next you learn to flourish. Instead of pressing "B" you now have to hold the attack button and press the left stick towards the enemy, release and the longer you hold it, the harder it is. Next is chain attacks, basically this is if you time your attacks correctly you attack harder and faster next is counter. Counter is when you press attack and push the left stick towards the enemy at the exact time the strike you to pretty much kill them. Then in skill it's pretty much the same except there is Dexterous Styles instead of Guile. First leevl is to dodge, tap A in any direction. Then there is aimed range attack. Next is Zoom, you can zoom in with ranged weapons. Finally there is sub-targeting. Max this out and you press and hold "LB" and move the right stick to pick a body part to shoot. Shoot a hand to disarm a target. Shoot the torso to...well nothing special, the head to do extra damage, or the crotch to do extra damage and be harsh.
As you can see the controls are much more different from number 1 and they have changed a lot about the fighting system but generally for the better in my opinion. Enjoy.

the same but different
Nooblet pretty well covered the gameplay changes.
As far the look and story, 1 and 2 are similar, but there have been some changes here as well. The game looks alot like the old one, just with better graphics. Armor is gone, you can choose different clothes to wear, but it doesn't matter as far a damage taken is concerned. Your clothes do effect people's reactions to you but not much else.
The game has a somewhat darker feeling than the original. While it still manages to make fun of itself throughout the game, there are a few more serious moments.
All in all I'd say 2 is an improvement on 1.

When all else fails, try brute force.

Ah, well the Hero from Fable 1 did have descendants, however when the common man weaponry grew (Guns pretty much.) The people of Albion hunted and killed most of the heros as well as burned the guild to the ground. I have a sneaky feeling if your hero was still alive that those people wouldn't stand a chance. So any documents referring to the descendants of the first hero were lost in the fire. Heros are now on the verge of extinction and only very few remain and they don't even realize their heros. Now in the game you are a street urchin that doesn't even have a penny in your name. You and your sister I mean. Though you'll have to see how yourself, your sister dies in the beginning and the main bad guy attempts to kill you. Turns out you manage to survive and you end up getting rescued by another Hero. This hero has the power to see in the future and become immortal. If you haven't guessed it by now, it is Theresa, your sister from Fable 1. She is the equivalent of the Guild Master in Fable 2. Also, most of the Fable 2 is based off all the good endings of Fable 1. So your sister is still alive, the sword of aeons is destroyed and you never became Jack. You find out later that you are the decedent of the hero of choice, AKA Your original Hero from number 1. As for time placement, Fable 2 is based 500 years after Fable 1.ES Master 146 wrote:ok but what happens with the time travel and the family?
