Right now can only offer a viewers point of view...dragon wench wrote:What is the new Prince of Persia like? My son is thinking of picking it up.
Son-in-law and another twenty-something sat down with it and found it enjoyable...although the puzzle-like aspect of it was giving them problems...the other...liked it but being a button-pushing combat player, was having trouble with having to only hit the x or y button once...he was claiming that it was making his character jump twice......I told him maybe the sun was in his eyes or the check is in the mail... it looked like it would be a fun game...sort of a cell painted look to it...I guess that would be the term...puzzle aspects to it...certain order to do things, etc....
will give you more details when I actually get to try it out, but I've got about 10 different older titles here to dabble with now that I've got an Xbox, the son-in-law is happier too, not having to share his...

Has he ever played any of the previous Prince of Persia games (Sands of Times onwards)? Because it plays similarly like those games, except with the cel-shaded look, a slightly different button configuration and a revamped combat system.dragon wench wrote:What is the new Prince of Persia like? Bear in mind that the PC version requires a minimum of a Pentium D, 1GB of RAM and a card which supports Shader Model 3.0 (In other words, if his computer can run Assassin's Creed, it will run PoP just fine since both games use the same engine).

OK, thanks guys
he has played all of the previous Prince of Persia games and quite enjoyed them.
And the machine shouldn't be a problem. He has the same computer as me, which can run games like The Witcher and Oblivion on maximum settings
And on topic, though this is Non-RPG.. others have mentioned RPGs... so
I'm currently playing The Witcher and regretting that it is nearing its conclusion.. best game I've played in years..
I think it should more properly be categorized as an Adventure/RPG hybrid... but oh well, it doesn't really matter.. it's an amazing game nonetheless.

I've been slowly trudging my way through Fallout 3. It's decent, but I'm growing tired of it. So, I'll probably wait until the March DLC comes out prior to finishing it. I am probably going to give Fables 2 a whirl. And, then, maybe the Witcher. I play NCAA Football and Madden some on the side. Been thinking about trying out Star Wars: Force Unleashed, but I've heard mixed opinions about it.
I'm playing the PC version of GTA IV right now. There are some noticeable slowdowns in the game but it is still playable (30FPS average) and not as bad as what a lot of people on the net exaggerated it to be. This is based on a resolution of 1024x768 plus all settings at medium on a Core 2 Duo processor with a Geforce 9600GT.
What I didn't like about the game is the vehicle handling (most) where making a simple turn feels sluggish and the cover mechanic is a little finicky at times. Other than that, the gameplay itself is decent. In fact, I enjoyed this game a lot until I forgot about the others.

Des, what do you think of The Last Remnant demo? I'm annoyed by the frequent loadingscreens; not the loedtime per se, but the frequency.
More telling, however, is the fact that the buttons that are displayed during gameplay, are X-Box controller buttons. It goes to show that they don't respect PC gamers and just want to feed us a quick port. I hope this is changed in the definitive version.

Not that surprised but it didn't bother me that much because it isn't as bad as the stuttering issue common in the PC port of Gears of War, another game using the same engine.GawainBS wrote:Des, what do you think of The Last Remnant demo? When a demo is released, I'd wager that it is nearing the end of it's development (in most cases), so I doubt that Square would be able to fix this issue in such a short time. Hopefully, they will issue a patch to fix this or an updated demo.GawainBS wrote:More telling, however, is the fact that the buttons that are displayed during gameplay, are X-Box controller buttons. However, I do agree that it is rather lazy of them to not change the icons in the PC version and not configure the game to make proper use of the keyboard and mouse. But it is worth noting that they did include a range of graphical options to tinker around with and the game itself ran pretty smooth on my rig, which does show that they did put in some effort for the PC version.
As for the game itself, I didn't play very far myself as the poor control mapping hampered the experience. Reminded me of the PC port of Resident Evil 4 where they used controller buttons instead of keyboard buttons. Don't tell me that I have to buy a controller to play these games (not that I have anything against controllers, but still...).

I have exactly the same problem. Now add to that the fact that I have an Azerty keyboard, which the game doesn't recognize, and the control mapping is terrible.DesR85 wrote: As for the game itself, I didn't play very far myself as the poor control mapping hampered the experience. Bought myself a gamepad today (Logitech Dual Action) and tested it on both Resident Evil 4 and The Last Remnant demo. Scaled pretty well to this device and it makes playing them much easier.
And on another note, I'm playing Mirror's Edge. Really enjoyed it, though there are some parts of the game which can be downright frustrating.
