Locked out of computer terminals

if I fail once on opening a computer terminal is there any way of reopening them once they have locked?

If you take the Computer Whiz perk, you get one extra chance to try to hack a terminal after you're locked out (if you fail on the second try, you're locked out forever). I think if you take the perk the next time you level up, it will let you go back and re-try terminals you locked out at lower levels, but I'm not 100% sure about that. Otherwise, the only way is to load a saved game before you tried the terminal.

In any case (and I know this doesn't help after the fact), your best bet is to exit out of the terminal before you use your last guess. It resets all the passwords and secret codes so you have to start from scratch, but your allowance of guesses is replenished too.

Yes any pre-get-the-perk Computer Whiz will let you have another go at those terminals once you have the perk.

I always stop on the 3rd unless I have a "7/8 right" and I can see the next guess lingering there teasing me, i risk it then. Other wise I do the same thing as Belthan. I used to save before ever Terminal(got old fast). Because you can save before each terminal, or log out before taking your last guess Computer Whiz is an otherwise useless perk. Once you get the swing of things on the hacking the Computer whiz Perk really becomes a "Why did I grab that perk?"

I never really got into the "swing of things" in Hacking Terminals, so Computer Whiz was probably developed for those like me.

However, I learned right quickly about hacking from the Overseer's Terminal about the REsetting when I got locked out.

NOt every computer has a Password nearby, that I found.

if you get locked out hit the ` key below escape key and click on the terminal then type unlock and your good

Note that the above only works for PC editions.

The Debug Console is not available ofr the Playstation and X-Box versions.

ANd no, there will NOT be any patches to put the console on the console versions. According to Bethesda.
