Help: 1) can't rest 2) Aerie in chunks

Post by HandsomeDevil »

I've searched the boards with no luck on either of my questions. Maybe someone here could help.

I'm in the Drow city and:
1) I can't rest in the tavern. I've been dueling, I used haste and now my characters are fatigued. However, the game won't let me rent a room.

2) Aerie got killed during the Aboleth's quest. I've tried Harper's Call, Raise Dead, and the Rod of Resurrection, but I can't seem to bring her back, even though I can see her greyed-out portrait. According to SK, her appearance is chunks(!) and one of her state flags is exploding death(!!). Is she completely gone?

Any help/closure (poor, poor Aerie) would be great.

For #2, try downloading Shadowkeeper. It's the standard BG2 editor, and works very well. Try checking out Aerie's status in your last game save, using it. You can always change that, then save--be sure to go with the default save, which creates a new file.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I guess I wasn't clear, though. I have Shadowkeeper (SK) - that's how I know she's in chunks and her state flag is exploding death. I can't seem to edit the state flag in Shadowkeeper - I didn't bother to change her appearance from "chunks". I changed her HP to 0 from -10, because I thought that might help with the res/raise. It didn't.

I compared her state flags and effects to those of the other characters and other than the state flags of "dead" and "exploding death" being selected on her, the values are all the same.

When I lost a character that way, I just set their hit points to 0, and that seemed to do the trick. Nothing under global variables?

I just looked at global variables but nothing leapt out at me (i.e. nothing like AERIE IS DEAD or AERIE BLOWED UP REAL GOOD). Should I be looking for something specific?

Solved!

On a whim, I changed Aerie's appearance from "chunks" to "female elven cleric" and she came back with Harper's Call. AND the innkeeper will now let me sleep.

Thanks for the help.

Great. :) Glad to hear that. So it was the hit points and the image.
