I was running out of money on my latest run through of Baldur's Gate and I decided to make use of the limited wish spell. I thought that I would use it to create a "powerful magical item" so that it would create something valuable that I could sell. To my surprise it created the Holy Symbol of Lathander.
I couldn't remember that ever happening before so I looked in the internet and everywhere I look it claims that I should give me a +2 full plate armor. Well I don't know what the Holy Symbol of Lathander is worth, but it's too darn good to sell. The one extra 7th level spell for my cleric alone makes it too good to sell.
Has anyone else seen this? What other items can you get with that spell? Under which conditions do you get the Holy Symbol? The conditions for me were that I had my mage cast the spell and my main character talked to the djini or whatever it is. My main character is a cleric and has a wisdom of at least 22 probably 23: is that the requirement or being a cleric maybe?

That option in the limited wish spell can ONLY grant you the +2 full plate armor, which is crap since it lowers your thac0 by 1 and lowers your movement speed. Its not possible to get any other item when asking for a powerful magic item.
If you got the holy symbol instead, then your game bugged or your dialogue file is messed up, or the file of the full plate has been replaced by the holy symbol...or you just leveled and got the holy symbol without noticing it and thought you got the armor instead.

thebannedone, you got it. I hadn't realized that you get it when you level up and it was the most striking new item in my backpack after the wish spell. Oh well, on the bright side I believe that +2 full plate armor is worth quite a lot of money!thebannedone wrote:...or you just leveled and got the holy symbol without noticing it and thought you got the armor instead.
By the way, is it a bug that anyone can talk to the djini in the wish spell? I did it quite accidentally the first time.
